About the role
This role is centered on integrating commercial strategy with financial planning across multiple departments within the organization. You will be responsible for managing and developing the company's forward-looking commercial model, which includes detailed forecasting based on pipeline data, customer behavior, and capacity planning. Your work will support the company's growth objectives by providing accurate, data-driven insights into revenue drivers and operational risks. The position requires a strong analytical mindset, the ability to challenge assumptions, and collaboration with various teams to ensure alignment on financial and commercial goals. You will play a key role in translating complex data into actionable insights, preparing executive-level presentations, and leveraging emerging AI technologies to enhance forecasting and analysis capabilities.

What you'll do
- Own and manage the company's commercial model and develop detailed bottoms-up forecasts, including assumptions related to pipeline, conversion rates, customer usage, retention, expansion, sales capacity, and timing of revenue realization.
- Provide the finance team and senior leadership with a comprehensive commercial outlook, including operating assumptions that inform revenue, expenditure, margin, and cash flow forecasts.
- Build and maintain complex dashboards and cohort analyses that track customer acquisition, profiles, conversion rates, usage patterns, churn, expansion, and unit economics to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify leading indicators that can predict future performance, challenge growth targets set by leadership, and flag potential risks early before they impact financial results.
- Analyze actual performance against forecasts, interpret the drivers behind variances, and translate these insights into risks, opportunities, and recommended actions for the business.
- Evaluate investments in sales capacity, marketing campaigns, customer expansion initiatives, strategic partnerships, and new market entry opportunities, providing data-driven recommendations.
- Support pricing strategies, promotional offers, and discounting decisions by analyzing customer value, revenue quality, consumption patterns, and margin impacts.
- Collaborate closely with Revenue Operations, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and FP&A teams to align assumptions, set realistic targets, identify investment needs, and drive coordinated action plans.
- Prepare clear, concise, and executive-ready presentation materials for leadership and Board discussions, effectively communicating conclusions, assumptions, and strategic recommendations.
- Apply emerging AI technologies and automation tools to speed up analysis, improve forecasting accuracy, and expand capacity for high-impact work, ensuring the team stays at the forefront of analytical innovation.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in Commercial Finance, business operations, strategy, sales, marketing, or data roles within a SaaS or technology company.
- Deep understanding of consumption-based revenue models and how pipeline, conversion, usage, retention, and expansion activities drive revenue growth.
- Proven ability to build detailed operational forecasts and translate commercial activities into a forward-looking growth outlook.
- Highly analytical with strong skills in financial modeling, Excel, BI tools, and data analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of SaaS and cloud economics, including gross margin, retention, expansion, customer acquisition cost (CAC), payback period, lifetime value, and sales productivity metrics.
- Ability to connect fragmented data sources across commercial, product, and financial systems into a unified, comprehensive view of the customer and the business.
- Skilled at identifying leading indicators that can predict future performance, moving beyond historical results to anticipate trends.
- Capable of challenging assumptions, influencing senior leaders, and working collaboratively without direct authority.
- Comfortable navigating between detailed quantitative analysis and strategic discussions with C-suite executives.
