Reporting to the Infrastructure Director of Engineering, your focus will be on enabling business functions while establishing effective security measures. You will guide a team of security engineers, balancing technical oversight with strategic planning to enhance security frameworks.

- Lead and mentor a team of security engineers, guiding them in prioritizing initiatives that yield significant impact.
- Implement essential security tools and automation across various layers, collaborating closely with engineering, IT, legal, and compliance teams.
- Formulate data-driven security strategies, including objectives and key results (OKRs) and key performance indicators (KPIs), while effectively communicating security priorities.
- Oversee compliance with security frameworks such as CIS, SOC2, and GDPR, partnering with internal teams to establish sustainable controls.
- Direct incident response efforts, focusing on investigation and resolution while enhancing response plans and threat modeling.
- Create and execute security strategies for AI and machine learning integrations, ensuring safe adoption and risk mitigation.
- Promote a culture of security awareness through education, helping cross-functional teams understand and manage risks.
- Govern the Information Security Program by developing proposals and recommendations that align security objectives with Taskrabbit's business goals.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building and managing security teams in agile, high-growth settings.
- Proven success in achieving compliance with security frameworks from inception, such as guiding a company through its first SOC2 or ISO 27001 certification.
- Strong technical leadership skills, with the ability to engage in technical initiatives and provide direct support to security engineers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities, adept at articulating security narratives through formal proposals and presentations.
- Practical risk management skills, focusing on business impact and customer trust rather than theoretical ideals.
- Analytical mindset with experience in designing metrics and KPIs that highlight the business value of security efforts.
- Expertise in influence-based leadership, with a history of enhancing security maturity in non-regulated sectors through relationship building.
- Comprehensive understanding of modern security practices, including cloud security, access controls, and secure software development, along with incident response experience.
- Familiarity with various security frameworks (e.g., CIS, SOC2) and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR).
- Experience in security governance for AI and machine learning systems, with a proactive approach to managing associated risks.
- Hands-on experience in implementing security tools or leading their implementation across organizations.
Compensation & Benefits
Taskrabbit offers a competitive and transparent compensation structure. The base salary for this position ranges from $155,000 to $207,000. This figure reflects base pay only and does not account for additional compensation such as bonuses or benefits. Final salary offers may vary based on factors including relevant experience, qualifications, geographic location, and role level.
