What you'll do
- Review engineering documentation and verify dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments like tape measures.
- Optimize the strategic layout of materials on raw stock to maximize yield and reduce material waste.
- Operate manual and power-driven equipment, including table saws and drill presses, to cut and shape component parts.
- Execute specialized processes in plastic fabrication and perform fundamental plumbing operations for production assemblies.
- Adjust and calibrate CNC machine setups to ensure operational readiness for each production shift.
- Provide critical support for metal and plastic welding activities, including the maintenance and changing of cutting machine blades.
- Coordinate the logical flow of materials between staging and production areas to maintain uninterrupted workflow.
- Perform rigorous surface preparation and conduct thorough cleaning of equipment to meet workshop safety and quality standards.
- Assist in the safe handling and preparation of materials for complex fabrication tasks.
- Conduct organized housekeeping activities to uphold a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.
- Scrutinize completed fabrication work to ensure strict compliance with regulations governing life sciences and pollution control applications.
- Apply foundational knowledge of standard shop equipment to select the most efficient process for project completion.
- Utilize a variety of machine tools, such as mills and lathes, to achieve precise fabrication results.
- Work autonomously to see individual fabrication projects through completion from initial setup to final quality check.
Requirements
- Bring a minimum of five years of verifiable manufacturing experience to the role.
- Demonstrate proven knowledge and operational experience with lathes, milling machines, brakes, presses, and woodshop equipment.
- Possess hands-on experience with plastic fabrication techniques and plumbing system assembly.
- Hold at least a high school diploma, a college degree, or a trade school certificate as evidence of foundational knowledge.
- Perform all carpentry tasks safely, utilizing both hand tools and power tools with a high standard of execution.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards inherent to the fabrication environment.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality consistent with the operational needs of the Branchburg facility.
- Collaborate effectively within a team setting to support collective production goals and workflow continuity.
- Physically capable of managing the handling and movement of materials and equipment within the workshop.
Nice to have
- Preferred knowledge of fabrication processes specific to medical device manufacturing and chemical processing environments.
- Familiarity with advanced CNC operation and setup procedures.
