Account Executive, Billing
Job description
About the role
Stripe builds financial infrastructure that helps businesses manage payments and scale their operations globally. This position sits on the Revenue Suite team, where you own sales for core finance tools including billing, tax, and revenue reporting. As an Account Executive based in Sydney, you will combine enterprise selling with a working understanding of how finance teams operate, helping current and prospective customers choose products that make their back office run smoothly. You are the customer-facing voice of a product family that automates finance processes for nearly every business that moves money through Stripe, so you are expected to both hit revenue targets and build durable relationships with some of the most senior finance stakeholders in the region. The role leans on a strong ability to align products with customer goals and to communicate that alignment convincingly at every level of an organization.
Key facts
What you'll do
You will manage the full sales cycle, from initial outreach through discovery, negotiation, and close, meeting and exceeding revenue targets. You will run upsell and acquisition conversations with current and potential clients, spotting where billing, tax, and revenue reporting products can deliver clear operating value. Strategic guidance within your territory supports user growth, and you will keep close tabs on the competitive landscape across payments, software, and hardware so you can position Stripe accurately. Acting as a subject matter expert for specialized products during internal and external meetings, you will be the person others turn to when questions go deep. You will collect and share client feedback with Product teams to influence future development and partner with Marketing, Product, and User Operations to accelerate growth. You will regularly engage with senior stakeholders, so strong executive fluency and the ability to hold your own in front of leadership will matter from your first month.
Requirements
The role expects a minimum of 8 years of experience in sales or prospecting within the technology sector, and a demonstrated history of hitting top performance goals. Direct quota management and closing new business are core parts of the role, and you will need to navigate complex negotiations and draft custom commercial agreements that stand up to legal review. You should be able to explain technical requirements and build solutions across diverse stakeholders, and deliver sharp presentations in person to executive leadership. A self-directed, hands-on work style is expected, as are the written and verbal communication skills to prepare proposals, and align teams, and be the reason an evaluation turns into a closed won deal. The very nature of the work is fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous, so operating calmly when the landscape shifts is important to success. You should be comfortable taking ownership of an outcome, driving it to close, and being accountable for the numbers your territory produces, all while representing Stripe with integrity and polish in front of senior executives and enterprise buyers.
Nice to have
At least 5 years of experience selling financial services or related software is preferred, including a specific background in selling billing solutions. Experience moving quickly in a high-velocity sales environment, and the ability to adapt to evolving market conditions, also help you succeed.
Skills & tools
Technical sales and pipeline management
Complex contract negotiation and closing
Financial software and payments domain knowledge
Executive-level communication and presentation
CRM tools and sales process rigor
Practical notes
You will be expected to engage with C-suite stakeholders including CEOs, CFOs, and CTOs during your work. The role requires comfort with ambiguity and the capacity to operate effectively in a fast-moving, relatively unstructured yet commercially demanding environment.
