Computer Engineer

About the role

In this role, you own the facilitation of Agile Scrum processes for In-Service-Engineering teams that execute hardware engineering, software development, and installation tasks. You will own the daily scrum meetings, ensuring that communication remains clear and blockers are identified and addressed promptly. You will facilitate the creation and organization of backlogs to confirm that planned tasks are executed and completed on schedule. You will coordinate the sprint backlog scrub, sprint planning, and sprint retrospective meetings to keep teams laser-focused on priority tasks for the sprint. You will document Agile Scrum business rules for implementation across multiple scrum teams to ensure consistency and compliance. You will facilitate the incorporation of lessons learned to drive continuous improvement and team efficiency. You will partner closely with federal civilian and Department of Defense customers to understand their unique mission challenges and translate them into actionable technical tasks. You will contribute to a culture rooted in trust, collaboration, and respect, empowering your teammates to deliver exceptional results on missions that matter.

What you'll do

Coordinate daily scrum meetings to remove impediments and maintain team momentum across hardware, software, and installation execution groups.

Facilitate sprint backlog refinement sessions to ensure that task definitions are clear, estimable, and ready for development.

Lead sprint planning meetings by coordinating input from In-Service-Engineering teams to confirm realistic commitments.

Organize and maintain product and sprint backlogs to align team execution with federal customer priorities and mission timelines.

Document Agile Scrum business rules, policies, and procedures to standardize practices across multiple scrum teams.

Implement metrics and reporting mechanisms to track sprint velocity, burndown, and milestone completion for leadership review.

Facilitate sprint retrospective meetings to identify actionable improvements and drive adoption of best practices.

Support the integration of hardware and software components by coordinating handoffs and dependencies between specialized teams.

Champion the use of Agile frameworks to improve predictability, transparency, and delivery outcomes for in-service engineering efforts.

Translate complex customer requirements into clear, testable tasks that developers and engineers can execute within sprint cycles.

Promote a culture of continuous learning by capturing lessons learned and incorporating them into future sprint ceremonies and processes.

Ensure alignment with federal compliance and engineering standards while maintaining a focus on timely installation and support activities.

Requirements

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen to meet the requirements of this position due to the sensitive nature of federal and Department of Defense contracts.

You must possess a Top Secret security clearance or be able to obtain one, as this role requires access to classified information.

You must have a demonstrated history of working in Agile Scrum environments, with verifiable experience in facilitating sprint ceremonies.

You must have strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with federal customers and cross-functional engineering teams.

You must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven government contracting environment.

You must have experience coordinating between hardware engineering, software development, and installation execution teams.

You must be proficient in Agile tools such as JIRA or similar platforms for backlog management and sprint tracking.

You must demonstrate the ability to document business rules and procedural standards for enterprise-wide Agile implementations.

Nice to have

Experience supporting federal civilian or Department of Defense customers in an engineering services capacity.

Familiarity with In-Service-Engineering processes, hardware engineering, and software development lifecycles.

Knowledge of government contracting timelines, compliance frameworks, and reporting requirements.

Experience facilitating large-scale Agile transformations across multiple scrum teams.

Background in Port Hueneme, CA, or familiarity with the local area and base access requirements.

Practical notes

U.S. citizenship is required for this role due to the nature of federal and Department of Defense contracts.

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance to perform the essential functions of this position.

This is a full-time engagement in Port Hueneme, California, and the position requires in-person presence at the work location.

Travel is not required for this role, allowing you to focus your efforts on facilitating team execution and customer delivery.

The work is subject to government contract timelines and may require flexibility to meet critical mission support deadlines.
