Front-End Developer
Job description
About the role
You will own the conception, architecture, and delivery of next generation user interfaces, ensuring performance, robustness, and scalability across demanding operational contexts. You will elevate operational efficiency by crafting high quality user experiences that streamline complex workflows and reduce downstream costs for defense and aerospace users. You will act as a technical advocate, challenging existing approaches and proposing well documented alternatives that balance delivery speed with long term maintainability. You will leverage intelligent tooling such as agents (Claude, Copilot, or equivalents) to accelerate development while preserving rigor and correctness in the codebase. You will collaborate daily with multidisciplinary teams, translating intricate domain requirements from defense, intelligence, and industry 4.0 scenarios into reliable front end implementations. You will contribute to a strong engineering culture by promoting quality standards, automated testing, and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.

- Deliver high quality user experiences that improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline complex workflows for safety critical and defense applications.
- Collaborate closely with back end teams and domain experts to translate user needs into reliable and maintainable front end solutions.
- Champion engineering best practices, advocating for code quality, maintainability, and strong documentation across the product lifecycle.
- Integrate artificial intelligence agents such as Claude and Copilot into your development workflow to increase velocity while preserving rigor and correctness.
- Implement responsive and accessible interfaces that handle high frequency data streams and complex visualization requirements.
- Work within multi site environments governed by strict security rules, adapting quickly while maintaining high standards of reliability and resilience.
- Evaluate technical tradeoffs, anticipate technical debt, and make informed architectural decisions that support long term product evolution.
- Contribute to the broader front end community by following technical blogs, engaging with conferences, and participating in open source initiatives.
Requirements
- Possess approximately 6 years of professional experience in a similar front end development role within a complex software environment.
- Demonstrate imperative mastery of modern web stacks, specifically React and Typescript, with a strong track record of building production grade interfaces.
- Show proven experience deploying complex systems on cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, with an understanding of scalable infrastructure patterns.
- Think as an engineer, designing elegant solutions while evaluating tradeoffs, managing technical debt, and making principled decisions on scope and feasibility.
- Exhibit a passionate commitment to quality code, automated testing, and reliable delivery against demanding operational deadlines.
- Display excellent organizational skills, autonomy, and the ability to clearly communicate progress and dependencies to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively in written and spoken English to collaborate with international teams including clients, partners, and open source communities.
- Have a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for end to end product outcomes, including maintenance and continuous improvement of front end features and infrastructure.
- Prior experience with geospatial products, MapBox, Leaflet, or related visualization platforms, along with familiarity with WebGL, is highly valued.
- Full stack capabilities, including comfort with Python and Node.js, combined with previous end to end responsibility for a product, are significant complementary assets.
- Active participation in front end communities through blogs, talks, open source contributions, and ongoing learning is expected.
- Experience in high reliability environments such as cloud, defense, or aerospace, where you directly maintained and improved production products and processes, is a strong differentiator.
