Embedded SRE
Job description
About the role
As an Embedded SRE at Safran.AI, you will own the design, implementation, and day-to-day reliability of the infrastructure that powers our AI solutions in operational environments. You will act as a bridge between software development and cloud operations, ensuring that platforms are robust, scalable, and aligned with strict safety and security standards. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into resilient technical architectures. You will champion automation, observability, and continuous improvement across the full lifecycle of our applications. You will be responsible for defining and driving the adoption of best practices that accelerate delivery without compromising stability. You will contribute directly to the transformation of Safran by applying advanced AI techniques to complex industrial problems.
What you'll do
Define and evolve the end-to-end architecture of product platforms in collaboration with software and cloud infrastructure teams.
Design and implement infrastructure components using the foundational stack delivered by the Cloud & Infra Platform squad.
Establish and monitor key performance and reliability indicators to ensure that products meet their objectives.
Lead the management, configuration, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment frequency and stability.
Deploy and maintain containerized environments and orchestrated services that support development, testing, and production workflows.
Implement observability tooling, logging, tracing, and alerting to enable rapid detection and resolution of incidents.
Promote a culture of quality, security, and automation across all engineering teams through documentation, reviews, and enablement.
Draft detailed architecture documents, operational runbooks, and incident response procedures for current and future systems.
Collaborate with the deployment team to ensure that infrastructure changes align with release policies and operational constraints.
Provide level 3 support and lead incident investigations, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Evaluate and recommend new tools, libraries, and platforms based on technical trade-offs and business needs.
Ensure that all infrastructure changes are traceable, auditable, and aligned with regulatory or safety considerations.
Work closely with product owners to refine specifications and identify technical risks early in the project lifecycle.
Act as a technical advisor during sprint planning, design reviews, and retrospectives to guide sustainable implementation decisions.
Requirements
You possess at least 5 years of professional experience in a similar role with strong DevOps or infrastructure responsibilities.
You have demonstrated the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You show strong organizational skills, autonomy, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
You have hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly on AWS, and with hybrid deployment models.
You have extensive experience working with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
You have a proven track record of designing, operating, and improving CI/CD pipelines and related toolchains.
You are comfortable writing code to automate infrastructure and integrate systems, with a preference for Python.
You bring a broad technical background spanning infrastructure, networking, storage, and application development.
You are a passionate advocate for automation, reliability, and continuous improvement in production systems.
Nice to have
Familiarity with AI or data processing pipelines, including model serving, data versioning, and experiment tracking.
Knowledge of safety-critical or regulated environments and associated engineering practices.
Experience with monitoring frameworks such as Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing tools.
About Safran.AI
Safran.AI is a subsidiary of Safran Electronics & Defense dedicated to designing AI solutions applied to complex data such as high-resolution satellite images, FMV video streams, and acoustic signals. These solutions rely on algorithms capable of automatically detecting and identifying objects of interest in the defense, intelligence, and aeronautics sectors. Since its integration into Safran in September 2024, Safran.AI also contributes to the group's transformation by applying AI solutions to industrial domains such as Industry 4.0. For example, automated image analysis can assist controllers responsible for inspecting critical parts by helping them detect anomalies from digital images. Built on a team of 250 collaborators, Safran.AI brings together passionate and multidisciplinary talents recognized for their excellence and technological innovation.
