Senior Frontend Engineer
Job description
About the role
Senior Frontend Engineer
Company Overview and Mission
Modern healthcare referral processes often involve significant waiting periods for patients. This delay occurs because administrative teams spend excessive time managing the intricate billing procedures required by insurance providers. Our company exists to solve this systemic challenge. Tennr utilizes advanced proprietary technology to automate the complex documentation and financial workflows within the healthcare system. Our platform ensures that patients can access the appropriate medical attention promptly and that medical providers receive their due compensation efficiently. We operate at the intersection of technology and healthcare, aiming to streamline operations so medical professionals can focus on patient care rather than administrative burdens.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to own the complete lifecycle of complex user interfaces for our critical healthcare workflows. This role requires a unique blend of technical precision and user empathy. Your primary focus will be JavaScript and React within a TypeScript environment, where you will architect and build the visual layers that power our platform. You play a vital role in the company's mission; by optimizing how providers get paid, you directly contribute to reducing patient wait times for essential care. This is a full-time position based in our Hudson Square office, offering a competitive salary range of $160,000 to $180,000 per year.
Core Responsibilities
You will partner closely with Product and Design leadership to translate strategic vision into high-quality user experiences. Your work will be guided by a deep understanding of multiple user personas, including back-office administrators, referring physicians, and patients. You will be responsible for driving the architecture of our complex React application, making foundational decisions that impact performance and scalability. Visual quality is paramount, and you will execute designs with pixel-level precision or use your design intuition to resolve ambiguity when guidelines are not explicit. We expect you to embrace a founder's mindset, proactively driving projects from initial concept through successful launch and contributing directly to the company's growth trajectory.
Daily Contributions
Your daily work will involve designing and implementing visual components while rigorously maintaining application performance standards. You will architect scalable structures for our React ecosystem, ensuring our systems can handle increasing data demands and evolving feature requirements. You will translate complex requirements into responsive and accessible interfaces in collaboration with product leaders. Optimizing application responsiveness through efficient asset management and component logic will be a core part of your contribution. You will work alongside distributed teams to coordinate release schedules and maintain development momentum. A critical part of your role involves verifying quality at every stage to identify and resolve edge cases before they impact provider workflows.
Required Qualifications
To succeed in this position, you must possess a minimum of five years of professional experience in UI/UX engineering, front-end development, or full-stack development. Your expertise must include strong mastery of JavaScript and a deep familiarity with React and TypeScript. A proven track record of building and maintaining scalable web applications is essential. You must have a thorough understanding of front-end performance optimization techniques and accessibility principles. You should be a passionate advocate for excellent design and user experience, capable of solving difficult problems with clean logic and organized patterns. Outstanding communication skills are mandatory, as you will need to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including both business stakeholders and clinical professionals. Experience with artificial intelligence tools for rapid prototyping is a preferred qualification.
Professional Attributes
You are a team player who thrives in collaborative environments and actively values diverse perspectives. Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced tech environment is beneficial but not mandatory for this role. You are motivated by solving challenging problems and taking ownership of your work. Your ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting will be crucial to your success.
Company Values and Benefits
At Tennr, you will have the opportunity to drive significant impact. One of our core company values is "Cowboy," which means you set the pace, take initiative, and feel the tangible results of your contributions. You will develop deep operational expertise by learning the inner workings of scaling systems, tools, and infrastructure. You will join a high-caliber team that is maniacally focused on reducing patient delays across the U.S. healthcare system.
In addition to meaningful work, we provide comprehensive compensation and benefits. These include a beautiful new office located at 345 Hudson Street, unlimited paid time off, 100% paid employee health benefit options, an employer-funded 401(k) match, and competitive parental leave. We also offer free lunch and a fully stocked pantry to keep the team energized.
