About the role
Rent the Runway is looking for a Procurement Planner to join their team in Arlington, Texas. In this position, you will be responsible for managing the flow of materials and inventory needed to support the company's fashion rental operations. The role involves coordinating with vendors, analyzing demand patterns, and ensuring that the right products are available at the right time to meet customer demand. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize procurement processes and contribute to the company's mission of making high-end fashion accessible through rental services.

What you'll do
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to negotiate purchase agreements and secure favorable terms for inventory acquisition
- Monitor inventory levels across warehouses and distribution centers to identify shortages and surpluses in real time
- Analyze historical sales data and seasonal trends to forecast future demand for rental apparel and accessories
- Develop and maintain procurement schedules that align with marketing campaigns and promotional calendar events
- Evaluate vendor performance metrics and conduct regular reviews to ensure quality standards are consistently met
- Collaborate with the logistics team to manage inbound shipments and track deliveries against projected timelines
- Prepare detailed procurement reports and present findings to leadership to support strategic decision-making
- Maintain accurate records of all purchase orders, contracts, and vendor communications in the company database
- Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers and reduce procurement costs without compromising product quality
- Work with the merchandising team to ensure product assortment decisions are supported by available inventory and vendor capabilities
- Track shipment statuses and resolve delivery discrepancies by communicating directly with freight carriers and warehouse staff
- Update procurement databases with current vendor pricing, lead times, and contract terms to ensure information stays current
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of three years of experience in procurement, planning, or supply chain coordination within a retail or e-commerce environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in using enterprise resource planning software and inventory management systems
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate insights into actionable procurement strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for managing relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced operational setting
- Familiarity with fashion or apparel industry practices is a plus for understanding product categories and seasonal cycles
- Experience with demand forecasting tools and techniques to support accurate inventory planning
- Comfort with travel to vendor sites and industry trade shows as needed throughout the year
- Working knowledge of import and export regulations and customs documentation procedures for international supplier relationships
Nice to have
- Prior experience working with rental or subscription-based business models in the fashion or lifestyle sector
- Knowledge of sustainable sourcing practices and ethical vendor standards in the apparel industry
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management, such as CPSM or CTPM
- Experience with data visualization tools and business intelligence platforms for reporting procurement KPIs
- Background in Microsoft Access or SQL for querying and manipulating procurement datasets independently
