You will spearhead high-impact analytics initiatives that define the strategic direction of the business. This role owns the design and execution of data models that unlock deep customer and operational insights. You will own the development of core reporting infrastructure that translates complex data into clear narratives for leadership. The position requires you to build and maintain dashboards that deliver real-time visibility into critical business drivers. You will partner with executive stakeholders to frame problems and derive actionable recommendations from data. This role demands strong analytical judgment and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You will be an individual contributor at launch, with a clear path toward people leadership as the team scales. Your work will directly influence product, marketing, and operational decisions across the company.

What you'll do
Lead strategic analytics initiatives by partnering closely with cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and fill data visibility gaps.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to define data requirements, ensuring robust collection aligned with evolving business objectives.
Develop scalable, reusable, and well-documented data models using dbt to power dashboards, reports, and ad hoc analysis across the organization.
Work with Data Engineering to design, optimize, and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data availability, accuracy, and efficiency for high-stakes decisions.
Analyze key business areas to uncover opportunities for optimization, experimentation, and strategic improvements that move core metrics.
Define, monitor, and interpret KPIs to influence decisions and measure success across the renter and subscriber lifecycle.
Build, maintain, and monitor robust, user-friendly Looker dashboards and reports, ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate and timely insights.
Establish and enforce data governance standards, including documentation, performance optimization, and best practices for the analytics workflow.
Partner with Finance to ensure cost modeling and profitability analysis are grounded in rigorous data definitions and transparent methodologies.
Champion a culture of data literacy by enabling teams through training, clear dashboards, and self-serve analytics tools.
Translate complex analytical findings into clear narratives and presentations for executive leadership and cross-functional partners.
Support ad hoc analysis requests with speed and precision, balancing urgent needs with long-term roadmap priorities.
Contribute to the technical roadmap for the analytics stack, providing feedback on tools, processes, and infrastructure improvements.
Serve as the subject matter expert on data definitions and logic, acting as the central point of contact for stakeholders across the business.
Requirements
6+ years of hands-on experience with large, complex data sets and delivering analytics solutions in fast-paced or scaled environments.
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics); advanced degrees and/or specializations a plus.
Highly proficient in SQL, with the ability to write efficient, optimized queries for large-scale datasets.
Demonstrated experience with data modeling, dimensional modeling, and dbt.
Experience building and maintaining dashboards in Looker or similar BI tools (Sigma, Tableau, etc.).
Experience with code management and deployment on GitHub.
Demonstrated ability to lead analytics or reporting projects end-to-end, from scoping to stakeholder communication.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, including business stakeholders, data engineers, and product teams.
Experience working with event data or user/player behavior data in subscription or marketplace environments strongly preferred.
Strong attention to detail and comfort working in ambiguous situations where processes are not yet standardized.
Willingness to mentor junior analysts and contribute to the growth and process orientation of the broader data team.
Commitment to using data to drive decisions while balancing qualitative insights and stakeholder perspectives.
Demonstrated ownership and accountability for delivering results in a dynamic, growth-stage startup environment.
Nice to have
Experience in the fashion, retail, or e-commerce sector.
Background in subscription or membership business models.
Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and experimentation best practices.
Knowledge of cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or BigQuery.
Experience with data visualization best practices and storytelling techniques for executive audiences.

This is a full-time position based at Rent the Runway's headquarters in Brooklyn, New York.
