About the Role
The is a leadership position focused on defining the technical foundation of enterprise automation. In this capacity, you will own complex platform decisions that directly shape how enterprise automation is delivered. You will guide the evolution of scalable Java systems, ensuring the resulting architecture supports robust, secure, and reliable operations. Your primary impact will be felt at the intersection of architecture, hands-on execution, and team leadership. You will be responsible for championing architectural integrity and platform security across all customer-facing automation solutions. This role requires a strategic mindset capable of translating business needs into sustainable, large-scale technical outcomes. You will operate at the highest levels of the engineering organization, influencing product direction and setting the standard for technical excellence.
What You'll Do
Your daily responsibilities will center on designing and evangelizing the core architecture that powers Redwood's platform. You will design resilient microservice structures that form the scalable foundation of our automation products. A core part of your mandate involves creating solutions that drive secure enterprise workflows capable of operating continuously across both cloud and on-premise environments. You will establish and enforce architecture standards that govern the evolution of Java and Spring Boot services.
Observability and security will be central pillars of your infrastructure advocacy. You will champion these practices and ensure their implementation across all distributed deployment pipelines. Mentoring other engineers and coordinating cross-team alignment are key functions of this role, ensuring the successful achievement of critical product milestones. Furthermore, you will advance AI and machine learning concepts to enhance routing intelligence, maintenance prediction, and security within Managed File Transfer (MFT) offerings. This includes the evaluation of protocols and infrastructure to ensure robust, compliant data exchange at scale.
You will partner closely with product management and QA teams to validate delivery outcomes and align on long-term technical strategy. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving technical initiatives forward while maintaining uncompromising standards for quality and performance.

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must possess a specific combination of academic background, professional experience, and technical mastery. You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. This academic foundation must be accompanied by proven experience in high-scale system design and operation. The position requires a minimum of 11 years of professional software engineering experience, with a demonstrated focus on demanding platforms and complex integrations.
Mastery of Java, Spring Boot, and REST API design is essential. You must have a deep understanding of core architecture principles. Your experience must include extensive work with cloud platforms, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS), including networking, security, and cost optimization. You are expected to build distributed systems, APIs, and Kubernetes-based solutions specifically for enterprise contexts. This includes managing the full lifecycle of these technologies. Applying AI and ML concepts to solve complex engineering challenges is a required skill, directly boosting automation capabilities and platform efficiency.
Strong DevOps practices are fundamental to your workflow. You must be highly experienced with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform. Daily responsibilities include the management of EKS-based Kubernetes clusters, with a focus on ensuring smooth inter-service communication and cluster stability. Understanding of enterprise file transfer protocols is mandatory; these protocols include SFTP, FTPS, and AS2 for secure data exchanges. You are expected to lead technical programs and effectively mentor engineering peers. Navigation of agile project management methods, including Scrum and Kanban, is a prerequisite for success in this role.
You must solve complex problems using a methodical, structured approach. Excellent communication skills are non-negotiable, as you will collaborate regularly with stakeholders across regions and teams. Your experience must include large-scale enterprise application integration, with familiarity with SAP environments being a distinct advantage.
