You will own the end-to-end delivery of complex features for our SaaS platform, ensuring high quality and timely execution from design through production deployment. You will optimize backend performance and scalability while collaborating closely on architectural decisions that directly impact over 1,000 enterprise customers worldwide. This role offers significant technical autonomy to solve challenging cloud-native problems and shape product direction through your contributions. You will champion secure and compliant implementation practices across our multi-tenant environment, safeguarding data exchange and maintaining rigorous standards. You will mentor junior engineers by writing comprehensive automated tests, conducting thoughtful code reviews, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence within the team. You will work proactively with product, QA, and senior leadership to scope technical requirements, break down complex tasks, and ensure predictable sprint delivery. What you'll do
Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly observable backend services and microservices using Java and Spring Boot to support our automation platform.
Actively contribute to upgrading our core platform infrastructure, focusing on system resilience, performance tuning, and seamless component communication across distributed environments.
Implement rigorous secure coding practices and protocols to safeguard data exchange and ensure compliance across our multi-tenant SaaS environment and enterprise integrations.
Collaborate closely with Product, QA, and senior leadership to scope technical requirements, break down complex tasks, and align engineering efforts with business objectives.
Champion engineering excellence by writing comprehensive automated tests, conducting thoughtful code reviews, and mentoring junior team members to raise overall code quality.
Work the problem end-to-end by taking ownership of complex features from initial design through implementation, testing, and production deployment in a SaaS context.
Optimize backend performance and database interactions, particularly with relational stores like PostgreSQL and MySQL, including complex SQL query tuning and schema design.
Gain practical experience with AWS and container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) to deploy and manage resilient cloud-native services.
Develop a strong understanding of enterprise network and file transfer protocols such as SFTP, HTTPS, and AS2, as well as secure communication standards including SSL/TLS and encryption.
Apply DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code principles to streamline CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and maintain platform reliability.
Contribute to the evolution of Redwood's SaaS-first automation fabric, enabling AI-embedded workflows that accelerate autonomous operations for customers.
Support the maintenance and enhancement of integrations that connect complex ERP, hybrid cloud, data, and emerging agentic AI systems across diverse enterprise landscapes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field that provides a foundational understanding of software engineering principles.
Bring 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of building SaaS applications in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
Demonstrate strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development, with a deep understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and microservices architecture.
Possess extensive experience with relational database management and schema design using PostgreSQL or MySQL, including the ability to optimize complex SQL queries for performance and scalability.
Have practical experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, along with containerization using Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes (including EKS) in production scenarios.
Show a good understanding of modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline implementation and Infrastructure as Code principles to enable reliable and repeatable deployments.
Exhibit solid knowledge of enterprise network and file transfer protocols such as SFTP and HTTPS, as well as secure communication standards including SSL/TLS and encryption mechanisms.
Have deep experience with automated testing frameworks like JUnit and Mockito, and a strong commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
Communicate analytical and problem-solving skills clearly, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across global teams.
Approach projects with an agile mindset, working effectively in iterative cycles and collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional teams to deliver predictable outcomes.
