About the role
You own the full lifecycle of enterprise automation features from initial discovery through production deployment and ongoing optimization. You collaborate daily with product managers and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical specifications. You are responsible for designing and implementing scalable backend services using Java and modern frameworks to meet strict reliability targets. You contribute hands-on code for both new features and critical maintenance across the entire application stack. You ensure that security, performance, and operational excellence are considered in every design decision. You mentor junior engineers by providing guidance, code reviews, and constructive feedback. You actively participate in architectural discussions and help shape the long-term technology roadmap for the platform.

What you'll do
Design and develop enterprise-grade services using Java 11+, Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Hibernate to power core automation workflows.
Architect and optimize highly available, high-throughput systems for file transfer and data processing to meet stringent SLAs.
Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integration endpoints that deliver seamless connectivity for enterprise customers.
Implement security best practices across authentication, authorization, and encryption to protect sensitive data in transit and at rest.
Contribute to React-based front-end development for admin and monitoring interfaces to provide intuitive operational visibility.
Leverage Docker and Kubernetes to build, deploy, and operate cloud-native services in scalable environments.
Partner with Product Management to translate complex requirements into scalable technical designs and implementation plans.
Lead code reviews, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor junior engineers to elevate overall team quality.
Play an active role in roadmap discussions, technical strategy sessions, and innovation initiatives that define future product direction.
Support on-call responsibilities to ensure timely resolution of production incidents and high-severity issues.
Perform end-to-end ownership of features, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
Collaborate with DevOps to automate infrastructure provisioning and ensure reliable deployment pipelines.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following industry best practices and engineering standards.
Engage with the broader engineering community through knowledge sharing, documentation, and process improvements.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
5 or more years of experience building and shipping production software using Java and Spring ecosystems.
Strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud-native deployment patterns.
Deep understanding of secure protocols such as SFTP, FTPS, and HTTPS, or a demonstrated willingness to master them.
Solid experience with SQL and relational data modeling, with familiarity with NoSQL concepts as a plus.
Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD or equivalent pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible is a plus.
Knowledge of agile development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban, and comfort working in fast-paced environments.
Experience with major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and their core services.
Experience with automated unit and integration testing frameworks and a commitment to test-driven practices.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail in complex technical scenarios.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to mentor peers and junior team members effectively.
Practical notes
You will work standard business hours with flexibility to accommodate occasional meetings across time zones.
This role is based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, and requires eligibility for local employment without visa sponsorship at this time.
Travel is generally not expected as part of this role under the current arrangement.
The position requires adherence to company policies regarding code quality, security, and data protection.
You are expected to participate in regular team ceremonies and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
