About the Role
We are seeking a Forward Deployed Senior Software Engineer to own the design and delivery of migration tooling that enables customers to move workloads into RunMyJobs with minimal friction and maximum reliability. You will build and enhance automation frameworks that abstract complexity for both migration architects and end customers. You will act as the technical bridge between product engineering and professional services to ensure migration workflows are robust, scalable, and repeatable. You will translate real-world customer environments into patterns that shape the future direction of the platform. You will troubleshoot production issues during cutovers and validate fixes directly with customer teams. You will document migration processes and contribute to internal playbooks that increase team velocity. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to align technical solutions with business outcomes and represent Redwood in customer engagements to ensure successful adoption and confidence in the migration experience.

What You'll Do
- Architect and implement scalable migration frameworks that accelerate onboarding into RunMyJobs from legacy automation platforms.
- Develop reusable components and scripts to migrate workflows, jobs, dependencies, and configurations with consistency and correctness.
- Analyze migration bottlenecks and design data transformation pipelines that reduce manual intervention and errors.
- Build internal tooling that improves migration repeatability, reliability, and speed across multiple customer engagements.
- Partner with Migration Architects to turn strategic migration roadmaps into executable technical solutions.
- Support Professional Services teams during complex or high-impact migration projects to resolve blockers quickly.
- Investigate and troubleshoot migration-related issues in production environments and coordinate fixes with engineering teams.
- Engage directly with select customer technical teams to validate requirements, test integrations, and confirm successful cutover.
- Provide structured feedback to Product and Core Engineering teams based on field observations and migration patterns.
- Participate in architectural discussions to ensure migration features meet standards for scalability, security, and performance.
- Advocate for automation best practices and platform capabilities that simplify enterprise migration scenarios.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that aligns with Redwood engineering standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience as a Software Engineer, Developer, or in a similar technical role.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language relevant to backend or automation tooling.
- Solid understanding of software design patterns and principles to build maintainable systems.
- Experience with building or consuming APIs and integrating with external systems.
- Familiarity with automation, orchestration, or job scheduling concepts is highly relevant to this role.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and cross-functional environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required for customer engagements or workshops.
- Openness to working within a structured framework while maintaining ownership of technical outcomes.
