What you'll do
- Architect and implement new tooling that enables users to configure detection logic with greater ease, efficiency, and precision across the platform.
- Optimize the performance of core scoring systems to ensure even the largest datasets can be analyzed rapidly and reliably without compromising accuracy.
- Extend the flexibility of existing Scores so they can be applied across a broader range of real-world scenarios and client use cases.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and delivery specialists to translate business requirements into robust, scalable software solutions.
- Take responsibility for the full engineering lifecycle, including design, implementation, rigorous testing, and safe deployment of new features.

Requirements
You must take pride in designing, building, and delivering high quality well engineered solutions to complex problems in every task you handle. You should adopt a big picture approach to solving problems, carefully considering how each component interacts with the wider system to ensure cohesive and reliable outcomes. You need commercial Scala experience or functional programming experience with languages such as Java to thrive in this role and contribute effectively from day one. You are expected to have experience of the full engineering life cycle, covering design, implementation, testing, and deployment across production environments. You must have a passion and drive to grow within one of the UK's fastest growing scale-ups and actively contribute to its ambitious mission. Experience with big data technology, ideally Spark but also Hadoop or Elasticsearch, will be highly valuable in helping you optimize data processing workflows. Familiarity with DevOps tooling and approaches is important, as the company is passionate about automation and even has a dedicated Developer Tooling team to support this focus. Experience building data processing pipelines for production batch systems, including traditional ETL or analytics pipelines, will help you manage complex data flows. Skills in manipulating data through cleansing, parsing, and standardization will be essential to improving data quality and integrity across large, diverse datasets.
