What you'll do

Architect and deliver backend services using Scala, embracing functional programming principles to build scalable and resilient solutions.

Design and implement microservice-based architectures that integrate modern architectural patterns such as event-driven systems, event sourcing, and CQRS.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to process, analyze, and visualize vast amounts of data for fraud detection, financial crime, and data management use cases.

Lead the development of production data processing pipelines, including ETL, streaming, and analytics workloads to ensure data quality and integrity.

Contribute to the evolution of our Contextual Decision Intelligence platform by solving complex problems in distributed systems and data transformation.

Work with Big Data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, or similar platforms to build performant and scalable backend services.

Partner with engineers focused on functional programming concepts and frameworks to adopt best practices across the codebase.

Support and mentor colleagues who are interested in learning Scala and working on large-scale distributed systems.

Utilize event-driven architectures and patterns to build systems that are scalable, resilient, and flexible as they grow.

Engage in hands-on problem-solving to address challenges related to data cleansing, parsing, standardization, and improving data quality for our clients.

Collaborate with DevOps teams using cloud platforms and modern tooling to ensure reliable deployment and operation of services.

Requirements

You have a passion for designing, building, and delivering high-quality, well-engineered software solutions to complex technical problems.

You take a big-picture approach, ensuring solutions work effectively within a wider system architecture and align with platform goals.

You have strong commercial experience developing scalable backend applications in JVM languages, such as Scala, Java, or similar languages.

You have an interest in functional programming concepts and a willingness to learn and work with Scala even if you have not used it extensively before.

You demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to software development in a team environment.

You are experienced with building distributed, scalable backend systems and microservice-based architectures.

You have worked with Big Data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, or similar platforms in production environments.

You have practical experience with functional programming concepts and frameworks in previous roles.

You have built production data processing pipelines, including ETL, streaming, or analytics workloads, with attention to performance and reliability.

You have worked with event-driven architectures, event sourcing, or CQRS patterns to design robust and scalable systems.

You have hands-on experience with data transformation, cleansing, parsing, and standardization to improve data quality and integrity.

You are familiar with cloud platforms and modern DevOps tooling for deploying and operating scalable services.

You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can evolve based on customer needs.

You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex concepts into actionable solutions.

Nice to have

Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
