About the role
This role owns the strategic direction and daily performance of the heavy truck sales department within the dealership. You will lead and mentor the employees within the department, and foster relationships throughout the dealership to build a high-performing team. You are responsible for recruiting, training and developing the sales and sales support team to ensure they are equipped to succeed. The position requires setting clear objectives and coaching individuals to manage department performance and provide industry-leading customer service. You will grow the customer base and achieve market share targets by leading the sales team in meeting new truck sales objectives in the designated area of responsibility through proactive sales calls, fact finding, presentation selling, and closing deals. A critical part of this role is guiding the structuring of complex sales transactions, including large quantities of new trucks, trade-in packages, finance arrangements, and ancillary offerings. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to results by providing frequent market and sales forecasts, and reporting on sales activity and results to ensure transparency. Through these efforts, you will lead the conversation with the sales team and manage by objective to drive continuous improvement.

What you'll do
Analyze financial information and develop comprehensive budget plans, along with detailed procedures to ensure financial goals are met for the department.
Represent the new truck sales team and customers through internal interaction with service, parts, financial services, accounting, and remarketing departments, and externally with our manufacturing partner, Daimler Trucks North America, and other local and national vendors as needed.
Ensure proper use of PTG's business systems to forecast, track, and report on department sales performance accurately and in a timely manner.
Manage stock inventory strategically to position Premier Truck Group as the supplier of choice in key market segments and for specific customer needs.
Grow the customer base and achieve market share targets by leading the sales team in meeting new truck sales objectives in the designated area of responsibility through sales calls, fact finding, presentation selling, closing deals, and ensuring after-sales support of valued customers.
Guide the structuring of complex sales transactions, including large quantities of new trucks, trade-in packages, financing options, and ancillary offerings to meet customer and business needs.
Develop and implement a strategy to grow on-highway, medium duty, and vocational truck sales through monthly, quarterly, and annual business planning and execution.
Recruit, train, and develop the sales and sales support team to build capability and drive performance across the department.
Set clear objectives and coach individuals to manage department performance and provide industry-leading customer service.
Lead and mentor the employees within the department, and foster strong relationships throughout the dealership to create a collaborative environment.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to results by providing frequent market and sales forecasts, and reporting on sales activity and performance metrics.
Ensure department compliance with company sales and management policies, as well as all financial requirements and audit standards.
Perform all other duties as assigned by senior leadership to support the strategic goals of the dealership.
Maintain a customer-centric focus in all interactions to ensure satisfaction and long-term relationship building.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent; and five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
IND-SALES required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams effectively.
Have a proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing profitability.
Show a strong commitment to compliance with company policies and procedures.
