About the role
We are seeking an Staff Accountant to join our rapidly growing organization. This role will partner directly with the Accounting Manager to build a best-in-class accounting function that can adapt, grow, and meet the changing needs of the organization as it evolves. You will also collaborate with other finance team members to ensure alignment and cohesion across departments. On this small but high-impact team, you will assist directly with day-to-day financial activities and monthly reporting. You will partner to build, implement, maintain, and support accounting processes, systems, and internal controls to streamline operations, mitigate risk, and improve financial reporting to aid in better decision-making and transparency. This position is critical in helping transform financial data into actionable insights for the leadership team. You will be expected to take initiative and ownership of your responsibilities, contributing to the continuous improvement of financial operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the financial health and scalability of the company.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Support the day-to-day accounting operations of Pomelo Care, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Assist with the monthly financial closes, including creating monthly journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
- Assist with the maintenance of financial tools and systems to ensure they operate efficiently and securely.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual close package reporting.
- Manage intercompany allocations and accumulation of financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
- Partner with the accounting team and cross-functional stakeholders to build, implement, maintain and support accounting processes, systems, and internal controls.
- Offer recommendations for improvement, evaluating future business needs and managing compliance with relevant regulations.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses and projects as needed to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements in all financial activities.
- Collaborate with external auditors and financial institutions as required to facilitate audits and financial reviews.
- Maintain organized and detailed financial records to support transparency and ease of review by stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of financial models that support business planning and forecasting.
- Communicate financial performance and insights to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
- Support special initiatives as assigned by management to drive process improvements and strategic projects.
Requirements
- You have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
- You have 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience at a startup and/or public accounting company.
- You demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all financial tasks.
- You possess strong, collaborative analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex financial issues.
- You have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities effectively.
- You show a strong desire to learn and develop your skill set to take on more responsibility and a diverse set of tasks and experiences.
- You are willing to roll up your sleeves and figure things out, driven by understanding and building systems and processes.
- You have experience with ERP systems and proficiency in accounting software, such as NetSuite.
- You are eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship as this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- You must be available to work full-time hours as this is a full-time position.

The expected base salary range is clearly defined, and equity participation is offered as part of the total compensation package.
