About the role
You own the end-to-end operational integrity of the Plasmidsaurus Louisville site, ensuring lab workflows proceed without interruption and that safety and compliance are non-negotiable standards. You are responsible for managing day-to-day lab organization and operational readiness across both Production and R&D teams, acting as the central hub for inventory, equipment, and facility coordination. This role requires you to establish and maintain robust relationships with Procurement and lab leadership to eliminate friction in the supply chain and keep scientific productivity at its peak. You will execute BSL2 safety procedures, oversee hazardous materials handling, and coordinate all environmental health and safety activities to maintain a secure workplace. Additionally, you serve as the primary liaison for building management, vendors, and visitors to ensure every interaction reflects the professionalism and efficiency Plasmidsaurus is building. Ultimately, you enable scientists to focus on discovery by ensuring the site infrastructure is reliable, organized, and proactive.

What you'll do
- Manage day-to-day lab organization and operational readiness across both Production and R&D environments.
- Own laboratory inventory and consumable stock via Quartzy, including on-site purchasing and routine ordering while partnering with Procurement to maintain process efficiency.
- Coordinate equipment acquisition, installation, maintenance, and repairs; maintain a comprehensive asset log documenting condition and maintenance schedules.
- Keep lab workspaces organized, clean, and efficient to support high-throughput science and safety standards.
- Execute BSL2 safety procedures, inspections, and documentation, including the setup and oversight of a designated BSL2 room for potentially infectious material.
- Oversee hazardous materials, waste pickups, new waste stream profiling with vendors, and ensure strict compliance with storage and disposal regulations.
- Coordinate EH&S activities with Operations, including training schedules and chemical or hazardous material inventory management.
- Support lab budgeting and monitor local operational spending to ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
- Coordinate deliveries and receive shipments, verifying accuracy, condition, and timely processing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for building management and local vendors such as cleaning, kitchen, maintenance, and security services.
- Coordinate light IT logistics with the IT team, including workstation setup, accessories, and equipment inventory tracking.
- Welcome candidates, customers, visitors, and new hires to ensure a positive first impression and smooth onboarding experience.
- Flag and resolve site-level issues proactively, collaborating with Operations on larger projects that require cross-functional attention.
- Support Lab and Operations teams during inspections or audits by maintaining accurate records and clear documentation.
- Continuously improve how the site operates by identifying inefficiencies and proposing practical enhancements.
- Ensure systems are operational across safety, inventory, and ordering so that scientists and employees know where to go for reliable support.
- Facilitate smooth facility issue resolution by maintaining clear communication channels with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Requirements
You must have the ability to manage complex operational tasks in a fast-paced laboratory environment with strong attention to detail. You should be comfortable coordinating with cross-functional teams including lab scientists, procurement, and IT to maintain seamless operations. Experience with inventory management systems such as Quartzy is essential to track consumables and equipment effectively. You must be able to execute BSL2 safety protocols and manage compliance documentation without exception. Strong communication skills are required to interact with internal teams, vendors, building management, and visitors on a daily basis. You should be proactive in identifying risks related to hazardous materials, waste handling, and equipment maintenance. The ability to support budgeting oversight and local spending tracking is necessary for financial accountability. You must be able to coordinate deliveries and ensure proper intake and logging of all shipments. Reliability and ownership of site-level issues are central to this role. You should be comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with a distributed operations team.
