Phigenics is looking for a skilled Water Management Engineer to help design and improve water systems for a variety of clients and facilities. This full-time role centers on creating sustainable water strategies that balance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental responsibility. The successful candidate will analyze existing water infrastructure, develop optimization plans, and work alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. What you'll do
Conduct thorough site assessments to evaluate existing water infrastructure and identify opportunities for system improvements.
Develop comprehensive water management plans that reduce overall consumption and minimize waste across multiple facilities.
Design and model water distribution networks and treatment systems using industry-standard engineering software applications.
Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to integrate water efficiency measures into building plans.
Perform detailed water quality testing and interpret analytical data to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Prepare thorough technical reports that document system designs, field findings, and actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Coordinate directly with regulatory agencies to secure necessary permits and maintain ongoing compliance with local codes.
Lead water conservation initiatives and provide expert guidance to operations staff on proven best practices.
Evaluate emerging technologies and innovative methodologies for improving water reuse, recycling, and treatment processes.
Monitor key system performance metrics and recommend targeted adjustments to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
Participate actively in client meetings to present engineering solutions and gather detailed project requirements.
Support the strategic development of water management frameworks for both new construction and existing facility upgrades.
Assist in the procurement and specification of water treatment equipment and related infrastructure components.
Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on water management best practices and field procedures.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in water systems engineering, water treatment, or facility management roles.
Demonstrated proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as EPANET, WaterGEMS, or equivalent simulation platforms.
Strong working knowledge of water treatment processes, distribution system design, and applicable regulatory compliance standards.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and detailed technical documentation with precision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing detailed reports and conducting professional client interactions.
Hands-on experience conducting water audits and performing thorough system performance analyses in field settings.
Familiarity with state and federal water quality regulations, permitting procedures, and environmental compliance requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint, for documentation and presentation deliverables.
Nice to have
Master's degree in water resources engineering, environmental science, or a closely related advanced discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or active eligibility for licensure in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
Prior hands-on experience with greywater recycling systems or rainwater harvesting design and full implementation projects.
Working knowledge of SCADA systems and industrial control systems used in water infrastructure monitoring and operations.

EPANET, WaterGEMS, or InfoWorks for advanced hydraulic modeling, simulation, and network analysis tasks.

Project management platforms for tracking timelines, milestones, deliverables, and team coordination activities.
Water quality testing equipment and laboratory analysis techniques for field and bench-level assessments.
Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tools for planning and resource allocation across engineering projects.
Practical notes
This role requires the ability to travel to project sites as needed, typically up to 20 percent of the time.
The engineer will report directly to the Water Management Director and work within a collaborative engineering team.
Standard work hours are full-time, with occasional evening or weekend hours required during critical project phases.
