About the role
In this role, you will act as the leading technical authority for innovative hardware projects at Peloton, focusing on products such as the Peloton Bike, Tread, and Row. You will collaborate closely with the Hardware Team to convert customer requirements into precise technical specifications, while also managing the execution of designs in conjunction with various cross-functional teams. Your leadership will be crucial in driving product development from concept to market.

What you'll do
- Establish the strategic direction for hardware projects in collaboration with executive leadership and product management teams.
- Lead technical teams, facilitating conflict resolution to maintain project coherence and focus.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing and Lean Engineering principles throughout all stages of product development.
- Create and maintain comprehensive engineering requirement documentation and master test plans.
- Assess and determine the necessary resources and staffing for hardware initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with the Peloton Product Development Process and uphold accessibility standards in all projects.
- Engage in international travel to liaise with contract manufacturers and joint development partners.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the hardware team.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices in product development.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to align product features with market demands.
- Analyze market trends and competitor products to inform future hardware initiatives.
- Drive initiatives that enhance product quality and user experience based on customer feedback.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 7 years of experience in product development, demonstrating a track record of successful product launches.
- A minimum of 2 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in design for manufacturability, assembly processes, and packaging considerations.
- Strong technical knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, metal fabrication, plastic molding, surface treatments, and electronic components.
- Familiarity with Original Design Manufacturer (ODM), Joint Development Manufacturer (JDM), and Contract Manufacturer (CM) collaboration models.
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to articulate and defend product strategies to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Previous experience in the fitness sector or related consumer hardware development is advantageous.
- Familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices in product design and manufacturing.
