What you'll do
- Assume ownership of the engineering roadmap and ensure alignment with the strategic goals of the Product Group.
- Architect the technical framework for new financial services, focusing on scalability and security from the outset.
- Analyze complex business requirements and convert them into detailed technical specifications for the engineering team.
- Implement robust processes for code review and knowledge sharing to maintain high standards of code quality.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to remove blockers and ensure smooth progression of all project milestones.
- Monitor team velocity and adjust workflows to optimize productivity and meet demanding delivery schedules.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to enhance the efficiency of our development lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster their professional growth through constructive feedback and guidance.
- Coordinate with design and product teams to iterate on user experience and interface functionality.
- Prepare detailed reports on project status, risks, and resource allocation for stakeholder review.
- Oversee the integration of third-party APIs and services to ensure seamless operation within our ecosystem.
- Drive initiatives to improve the reliability and performance of our existing infrastructure.
- Support the creation of documentation for both internal processes and external client communications.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal governance policies in all engineering activities.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams in a technical leadership capacity for a significant period.
- Possess a strong technical background that allows you to understand intricate system architectures and challenges.
- Apply a solution-oriented mindset to overcome obstacles and find pragmatic engineering solutions.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and resilient attitude under pressure.

- Utilize fluency in English or Japanese at a business level to facilitate professional interactions.
- Hold native-level Japanese speaking ability or possess a JLPT N1 certification to ensure linguistic proficiency.

Practical notes
This position is open only to residents of Japan. The work schedule includes flexible hours without a core time requirement, typically from 9:00 AM to 5:45 PM with a one-hour break. Benefits include social insurance, a 401K plan, and an annual salary that is competitive and based on experience, with yearly reviews. Paid leave is granted based on the month of joining, with additional time off during national holidays and a summer break. Remote work is supported, allowing for flexibility in office attendance.
