About the role
You are the financial backbone of Parnall Law Firm, owning the end-to-end accuracy and integrity of all accounting operations. You own the full close process, ensuring that monthly financial reports are prepared precisely and delivered on time to support executive decision-making. You own the reconciliation of all holding accounts, verifying the accuracy of Accounts Payable, credit card activity, Sales Tax Payable, and Payroll with meticulous attention to detail. You own the verification and processing of gross receipts tax payments on a monthly basis, maintaining strict compliance and oversight. You own the execution of internal bank transfers and ACH transactions for client settlements, reporting, and positive pay requirements as needed. You own the maintenance of Owner personal accounts, keeping them fully reconciled and aligned with firm standards. You own collaboration with executive leadership by attending all financial meetings, providing clear financial insights and accountability. You own the upholding of firm policies and procedures, ensuring that confidentiality and professionalism are upheld in every financial interaction.
Key facts
What you'll do
Attend firm-wide meeting every Monday at 8:00 am (in person)
Attend team mini meetings Tuesday through Friday at 8:00 am
Prepare monthly financial reports and monthly close package
Verify and pay gross receipts taxes monthly
Conduct daily review of holding account report for accuracy, including Accounts Payable, credit card (Spark), Sales Tax Payable, Payroll, and related accounts
Complete monthly management spreadsheet and compile attachments for the Executive team
Keep and reconcile Owner's personal accounts
Attend all financial meetings with Owner, Executive team, and CFO
Review settlement spreadsheet at the close of each pay period
Review bookkeeper's tasks on a weekly basis
Initiate ACH transactions for client settlements, reporting, and positive pay as needed
Verify status of checks and provide images upon request as needed
Execute internal bank transfers when necessary
Maintain the firm's budget and conduct quarterly reviews with Owner and CFO
Assist the Firm Administrator when necessary
Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism in all financial matters
Follow and maintain all firm policies and procedures
Contribute to the overall operational success and financial health of the firm
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
CPA certification is preferred but not required at this time.
You must possess a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close responsibilities.
You must have a strong and proven understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
You must demonstrate proven leadership ability, with direct experience managing and supporting a small team.
You must maintain a high level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information belonging to the firm and its clients.
You must have excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills in all financial tasks.
You must show the ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams across the organization.
You must be capable of working 100% in-office at our Albuquerque, NM location without exception.
Nice to have
CPA certification is a preferred qualification for this role.
Experience working within a legal services or law firm environment is a preferred qualification.
Familiarity with legal industry financial regulations and compliance considerations is a preferred qualification.
Practical notes
This position operates on a full-time schedule with no remote or hybrid options available.
All work is to be performed in-person at the Albuquerque, NM office location.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship at this time.
