About the role
You will own the end-to-end financial close process for FalconX, driving a high-quality and timely month close that supports our rapid global growth. You are responsible for managing and executing complex external audits across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring audit-readiness and proactively resolving blockers to meet strict deadlines. You will lead and develop a distributed, high-performing global accounting team spanning the US and India, focusing on performance management and professional growth. You will champion process and systems automation within the controllership function, leveraging AI tools and integrating best practices to streamline workflows. You will own the general ledger, ensuring the integrity of financial data and full compliance with US GAAP and local regulatory requirements. You will establish and maintain industry-leading internal controls over financial reporting, identifying gaps and documenting robust accounting procedures. You will act as the key liaison with external auditors and internal stakeholders, aligning accounting operations with FP&A, Tax, and Operations for seamless execution.

What you'll do
- Oversee the global financial close process, ensuring the accurate, high-quality, and timely preparation of global consolidations while driving a robust close process over complex multi-entity accounting and streamlining associated financial reporting.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external financial statement auditors, coordinating all aspects of the audit process for corporate accounting across multiple jurisdictions in a compressed timeframe and driving audit planning, performing audit-readiness activities, and proactively resolving any blockers to ensure on-time completion.
- Build, lead, and mentor a strong global accounting team, seamlessly integrating the US-based team with our distributed team in India, establishing clear KPIs for accuracy and timelines, and prioritizing the training, coaching, and professional development of team members.
- Champion automation within the controllership organization and the use of AI tools to drive automation and shorten the close timeline, overseeing data integrity and workflows in key accounting systems including NetSuite, Floqast, and ZIP, and supporting the successful implementation of reporting tools including Workiva.
- Own the general ledger and recording of all business transactions, ensuring data completeness and compliance with US GAAP as well as local requirements, and build strong cross-functional relationships with other teams such as FP&A, Tax, and Operations to ensure clear communication and proactively manage dependencies.
- Design, assess, and implement industry-leading internal controls over financial reporting to eliminate gaps and drive reporting accuracy, contributing to accounting policies and leading the documentation of all accounting procedures.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business initiatives into accounting requirements, ensuring that financial reporting reflects business performance accurately and that accounting policies are consistently applied.
- Lead the coordination and execution of month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis, to deliver timely and reliable financial information used for decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies across all jurisdictions, maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting the execution of audits and reviews with efficiency and transparency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function, identifying opportunities to enhance processes, controls, and systems, and implementing solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
Requirements
- Bring 10-15+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 7+ years in senior management leading large, diverse global teams, demonstrating a history of managing distributed team members from different geographical locations.
- Show extensive hands-on experience establishing a timely month-end close and coordinating complex external audits, with deep knowledge of US GAAP reporting standards and accounting operations.
- Maintain a background in financial services, fintech, banking, broker-dealer, or crypto, as this experience is strongly preferred for success in this role.
- Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional partners and clear articulation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in accounting systems and reporting tools, including NetSuite, Floqast, ZIP, and Workiva, to ensure efficient execution of accounting and audit processes.
- Uphold a commitment to accuracy, compliance, and internal controls, ensuring that financial reporting is reliable and meets the expectations of external auditors and stakeholders.
