Olsson is seeking a highly experienced Water/Wastewater Engineering Leader to oversee our Nebraska operations. What you'll do
- Lead the Nebraska Water/Wastewater team, providing strategic direction, technical guidance, and day-to-day management to ensure project success.
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater projects, ensuring they meet client expectations, regulatory standards, and budget constraints.
- Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and quality control processes, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Actively participate in project execution, providing technical expertise and review to maintain high standards of engineering quality.
- Monitor project performance metrics and employee workload, identifying bottlenecks and implementing process improvements to optimize efficiency.
- Foster a positive team environment by mentoring staff, supporting professional development, and encouraging continuous learning and innovation.
- Facilitate regular communication within the team, ensuring alignment on project priorities, deadlines, and responsibilities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies through ongoing engagement and responsiveness.
- Develop and implement training programs and mentorship initiatives to enhance the technical and leadership skills of team members.
- Collaborate with other regional and national leaders to coordinate staffing, resource allocation, and project delivery strategies.
- Engage in business development activities, including nurturing existing client relationships and pursuing new opportunities to expand Olsson's water/wastewater services in Nebraska.
- Ensure all projects comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Support the development of proposals, scope of work, and cost estimates for new projects.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and professional organizations to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- Contribute to the strategic growth of the Nebraska office by identifying new markets and service opportunities.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and integrity across all project activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in consulting engineering, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven expertise in water and wastewater engineering, including project design, management, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team of engineers and technical staff.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with clients, team members, and regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Experience with project management tools and engineering design software relevant to water and wastewater projects.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal water/wastewater regulations and standards.
- Ability to foster a collaborative team environment and promote professional growth.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- A commitment to safety, quality, and ethical standards in all aspects of work.

- Experience working with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance.
