About the role

Olsson is actively seeking a seasoned Water/Wastewater Leader to join our team in Texas. This leadership position involves overseeing the operations of our water and wastewater projects within the region, managing a team of engineers and technical staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our clients. As a key member of our Texas team, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives, fostering client relationships, and supporting the growth of our water/wastewater practice. The role offers an excellent opportunity to lead a dedicated team, expand our local presence, and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects. The position is based on-site in either Dallas or Fort Worth, Texas, and requires active engagement in the local community and industry.

What you'll do

• Set clear goals and strategic plans for the water/wastewater team, ensuring alignment with the overall objectives of Olsson.
• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of water and wastewater projects, ensuring they meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
• Oversee staffing levels, resource allocation, and utilization to maximize efficiency and project delivery.
• Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing, to ensure profitability and financial health of the team.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs and providing innovative solutions.
• Identify new business opportunities within the water and wastewater sectors, supporting marketing and business development efforts.
• Lead proposal development, client presentations, and negotiations to secure new projects and expand the firm's presence in Texas.
• Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages professional growth, mentorship, and high performance.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing feedback and coaching to team members to support their development.
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Promote a safety-first culture by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular safety meetings.
• Collaborate with other regional and national teams to leverage resources, share best practices, and support firm-wide initiatives.
• Represent Olsson at industry events, community meetings, and professional associations to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation.
• Support the development of technical standards, quality assurance processes, and project delivery methodologies.
• Support the onboarding and training of new staff, ensuring they integrate smoothly into the team.
• Lead efforts to improve project delivery processes, utilizing innovative tools and techniques to increase efficiency.
• Support the firm's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and the broader community.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred; an associate degree with equivalent experience may be accepted.
• Minimum of ten years of relevant experience in water and wastewater engineering or consulting.
• At least six years of supervisory experience managing technical staff and project teams.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and leading teams in a consulting environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships and generate new business.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Knowledge of industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols relevant to water and wastewater projects.
• Willingness to travel locally within Texas as needed for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.

Nice to have

• Experience in marketing and business development within the engineering or consulting sectors.
• Familiarity with project management software and financial management tools.
• Knowledge of ITAR regulations and experience working on projects involving sensitive or controlled technology.
