What you'll do
- Lead the Colorado Water/Wastewater team by providing technical guidance and project oversight, ensuring all projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and budget requirements.
- Manage and coordinate multiple water and wastewater projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and resources to optimize project outcomes.
- Actively participate in project planning, design, and review processes, contributing technical expertise to ensure innovative and compliant solutions.
- Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, making adjustments as necessary to maintain project profitability and client satisfaction.
- Monitor project performance metrics, including employee utilization, project profitability, and client feedback, to identify areas for process improvement.
- Foster a positive team environment by mentoring staff, supporting professional development, and encouraging collaboration among team members.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded through proactive communication and service.
- Support business development efforts by identifying new project opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in client meetings to grow the firm's presence in Colorado.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including safety standards and environmental requirements.
- Promote a safety-first culture within the team by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular safety meetings.
- Collaborate with other department leaders to align staffing, resource allocation, and project delivery strategies across the organization.
- Assist in the development of project budgets, schedules, and staffing plans, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Lead efforts to improve project delivery processes, leveraging lessons learned and industry best practices.
- Participate in professional organizations and industry events to stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes affecting water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Represent Olsson at community and industry meetings, enhancing the firm's visibility and reputation in Colorado.
Requirements
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with clients, team members, and stakeholders effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of consulting experience, with a focus on water and wastewater projects.
- At least 4 years of supervisory or managerial experience overseeing project teams.
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects, including scope, schedule, and budget control.
- Strong technical background in water/wastewater infrastructure design, planning, and construction.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies and ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
- Ability to develop and maintain client relationships, with a track record of business development.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software relevant to water/wastewater engineering.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

- Additional professional licenses or certifications, such as PE (Professional Engineer).
- Familiarity with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance, if applicable.
