What you'll do

• Perform technical civil engineering tasks related to water and wastewater systems, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation to support project design and decision-making processes.
• Develop detailed designs, calculations, and specifications for water treatment facilities, lift stations, pump stations, and related infrastructure projects.
• Use engineering software such as CAD for drafting, GIS for mapping, and spreadsheets for data analysis to support project deliverables.
• Conduct field investigations, including sampling, site assessments, and documentation, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, memos, and presentations to communicate findings, project progress, and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
• Act as an on-site representative during construction phases, overseeing work progress, quality control, and adherence to design specifications.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, environmental specialists, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project milestones are met within budget and schedule.
• Assist in developing project proposals, scope of work, and cost estimates for new opportunities in the industrial water and wastewater sector.
• Support environmental permitting processes and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Engage with clients to understand their needs, provide technical guidance, and present project updates effectively.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by sharing knowledge and participating in team meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, field notes, and design revisions for future reference and quality assurance.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on practical and innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil, mechanical, or environmental engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in environmental or civil engineering, specifically related to water/wastewater treatment, lift stations, pump stations, or similar infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience working on industrial water and wastewater projects, with a good understanding of related standards and regulations.
• Must possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license to practice engineering independently.
• Proficiency with engineering design tools, including CAD, GIS, and spreadsheet applications.
• Ability to interpret technical data, perform calculations, and develop clear, detailed drawings and reports.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed for field investigations and construction oversight.
• Knowledge of environmental permitting processes and regulatory compliance is preferred.

• Experience in project management, including scope development, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Prior client-facing experience, including proposal development and presentations.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations such as Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, or local/state water quality standards.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices and innovative water treatment technologies.
• Experience working in industrial settings or with industrial clients.
