About the role
Olsson is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer with specialized expertise in water and sewer modeling to join our dedicated Water/Wastewater team. This on-site position involves leading complex hydraulic modeling projects, performing master planning activities, and supporting clients from initial project conception through to final delivery. You will be responsible for conducting detailed process design calculations, demand forecasting, and developing innovative solutions to meet client needs. The role requires collaborating closely with project teams, providing technical guidance, and ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy in all deliverables. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the growth and reputation of Olsson by delivering reliable and efficient engineering services that align with industry standards and client expectations.

What you'll do
- Lead the design and development of water and sewer modeling projects, ensuring all work meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Review and validate project documentation, including hydraulic models, technical reports, and design calculations, to guarantee accuracy and completeness.
- Serve as a technical expert, applying advanced engineering principles to solve complex water and sewer system challenges.
- Perform detailed quality assurance and quality control procedures on all project outputs to maintain high standards.
- Conduct in-depth research on current engineering practices, emerging technologies, and industry standards relevant to water and wastewater systems.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, designers, and environmental specialists, to develop integrated project solutions.
- Engage with clients to understand their needs, present project updates, and incorporate feedback into project plans.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, project proposals, and documentation required for regulatory approvals and client presentations.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and resource management to ensure timely delivery of services.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering standards, guidelines, and best practices within the team.
- Stay current with industry developments, software updates, and regulatory changes, integrating new techniques into project workflows.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences to promote Olsson's expertise and expand professional networks.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout project execution.
- Support business development efforts by identifying new project opportunities and assisting with proposal writing.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
- Proven ability to work well within a team environment, demonstrating leadership and cooperation.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, planning, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Extensive experience with water and wastewater master planning processes, including demand forecasting and system analysis.
- Strong knowledge of open channel and closed pipe hydraulics, with practical application experience.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro mapping software for spatial analysis and mapping tasks.
- Over 10 years of hands-on experience with water and sewer modeling software such as InfoWorks ICM, SewerGEMS, WaterGEMS, InfoWater Pro, and WaterCAD.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex engineering challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations governing water and wastewater systems.
- Experience in preparing technical reports, project documentation, and presentations for diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of work.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in project management or leadership roles within engineering teams.
- Knowledge of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and experience working on projects involving ITAR-controlled information.
- Additional professional certifications or licenses in engineering, such as PE (Professional Engineer).
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices related to water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Experience working on large-scale or complex infrastructure projects.
- Ability to contribute to business development activities, including client engagement and proposal development.

The salary range for this position in Colorado is between $116,000 and $173,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
