What you'll do
- Lead and manage traffic planning, operational studies, and design projects from inception to completion.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to create innovative traffic solutions that prioritize safety and operational efficiency.
- Conduct comprehensive traffic studies to assess current conditions and recommend improvements.
- Develop and implement traffic signal design and timing plans to optimize flow and reduce congestion.
- Analyze and interpret data from traffic modeling software to inform design decisions and project planning.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, including clients and local government agencies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to transportation engineering.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices in traffic engineering and design.
- Participate in public meetings and community outreach efforts to communicate project goals and gather feedback.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in traffic technology to incorporate into project work.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to meet client expectations.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in traffic engineering, traffic operations, or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects.
- Possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) license in the state of Oklahoma.
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
- Experience with traffic modeling tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, or equivalent software.
- Proven track record of conducting traffic studies and managing design projects.
- Familiarity with local industry standards and practices is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in project execution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
