What you'll do

• Execute detailed engineering tasks for modifications and upgrades to both greenfield and brownfield industrial facilities, including estimating quantities, performing design calculations, and developing technical solutions.
• Create detailed designs for equipment access platforms, pipe supports, foundations, structural repairs, and other structural components, covering concrete, masonry, and steel structures.
• Conduct structural assessments and inspections to evaluate existing facilities, identify issues, and recommend appropriate repair or reinforcement strategies.
• Collaborate closely with process engineers, plant managers, owners, and contractors to ensure that designs meet operational requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and manage project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and deliverables, to ensure projects progress smoothly and meet client expectations.
• Lead complex projects that require innovative approaches, applying best practices and continuous improvement techniques to optimize design and construction processes.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams, including specialists in non-destructive testing, mechanical engineering, wastewater, and energy sectors, to deliver integrated solutions.
• Regularly update project managers and stakeholders on project status, challenges, and solutions, ensuring transparent communication and effective decision-making.
• Mentor and support junior staff, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance team performance and technical capabilities.
• Maintain accurate project and client records within the company's project management system, ensuring documentation is complete and up-to-date.
• Travel nationally as needed to assess site conditions, oversee installations, or conduct inspections, adapting to various terrains and weather conditions to ensure project success.

Requirements

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and with clients.
• A minimum of six years of professional engineering experience, with a proven track record in industrial or structural engineering projects.
• A registered Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; a Structural Engineering (SE) license is preferred but not mandatory.
• Proficiency in developing detailed 3D models and construction documentation using Autodesk Revit.
• Experience with software such as Navisworks, AutoCAD, RISA 3D, EnerCalc, MS Excel, and Hilti/Dewalt design tools.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards including IBC, NFPA, OSHA, ASCE Guides for Petrochemical Facilities, PIP, ASME, and NEC.
• Ability to develop accurate and detailed engineering designs, perform calculations, and produce clear technical documentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel as needed for site assessments, inspections, and project oversight.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

Nice to have

• Experience working in sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, above-ground mining, pharmaceuticals, or bioenergy.
• Additional licenses or certifications relevant to structural or industrial engineering.
• Familiarity with ITAR regulations and compliance requirements related to defense or sensitive projects.
• Experience with project management software and tools to track project progress and documentation.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in industrial settings.

Practical notes

• Compensation varies based on experience, education, skills, and geographic location.
• The Colorado pay range for this role is $116,000 - $135,000 USD.
• Full-time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health care, dental, vision, paid time off, and performance bonuses.
