In the capacity of a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Olsson, you will engage directly with some of the largest technology firms and other critical clients in the industry. This position involves taking on mechanical engineering responsibilities for various projects, performing design calculations, composing technical reports, and preparing necessary documentation. A background in the Data Center sector is highly desirable. You will also collaborate with various teams within Olsson, including professional and technical staff, as well as clients.

What you'll do

Lead mechanical engineering efforts on various projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and client specifications.
Conduct thorough design calculations to support project requirements and objectives.
Prepare and present detailed technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems within larger project frameworks.
Engage in regular communication with clients to understand their needs and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Troubleshoot and investigate engineering problems, developing innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in mechanical engineering and Data Center technologies.
Contribute to project management activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve project quality and efficiency.
Utilize Revit and other engineering software tools to create detailed designs and models.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in all engineering activities.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is essential.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on Data Center projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Proven experience with Revit and central utility systems is preferred.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective collaboration.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet project deadlines.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting is essential.
Experience in project management is preferred but not mandatory.
A team-oriented mindset with a passion for contributing to community-focused projects.

Nice to have

Familiarity with sustainable design practices and energy-efficient systems.
Experience in working with mission-critical facilities beyond Data Centers.
Knowledge of building codes and regulations relevant to mechanical engineering.

Skills & tools

Proficient in engineering software, particularly Revit and AutoCAD.
Strong analytical skills for conducting design calculations and evaluations.
Excellent organizational skills for managing project documentation and timelines.
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and presentations.
