Job description
About the role
The owns the definition, delivery, and evolution of focused AI workstreams that define the future of the platform. You will translate the raw potential of AI into concrete, trustworthy product experiences that real builders can use every day. You will own one dedicated area of AI innovation end-to-end, from discovery and strategy through execution, measurement, and iteration. Depending on your level, you will either lead this workstream independently or act as a core contributor under the guidance of a senior product leader. You will work hand-in-hand with users, engineers, designers, and domain experts to ensure AI features are not only powerful but also reliable, understandable, and delightful. Ultimately, you will shape what AI means for n8n and help turn ambitious, sometimes chaotic, AI ideas into production-grade features that users can build with confidence.
Key facts
What you'll do
Define and own a focused AI workstream, setting vision, strategy, and execution roadmap from initial concept to shipped production features.
Partner closely with Engineering and Design to translate ambiguous AI opportunities into clear product requirements, user stories, and technical specifications.
Conduct deep user research and analyze usage data to uncover workflows where AI can genuinely augment human judgment rather than replace it.
Build and maintain rigorous evals and observability frameworks to measure AI quality, reliability, and cost in production environments.
Collaborate with DevRel and Community teams to gather feedback from builders and ensure AI features solve real problems on the platform.
Work with Data and Support partners to understand failure modes, edge cases, and user expectations to refine product behavior over time.
Lead scoping decisions that balance innovation with performance, latency, and cost constraints in agentic and workflow contexts.
Champion a quality-first mindset, ensuring AI features are debuggable, inspectable, and safe for real-world usage by diverse customers.
Act as the primary product voice for AI within cross-functional discussions, aligning stakeholders on priorities and trade-offs.
Continuously experiment, iterate, and pivot based on evidence, turning early prototypes into polished experiences that scale.
Requirements
You must be AI-native by default, using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, n8n, or similar in your daily work and following the AI product space closely.
You must have a track record of shipping real AI products, serious prototypes, public projects, agent workflows, eval suites, or tools used by real people in production settings.
You must have hands-on experience building or significantly shaping evals, not merely discussing their theoretical value.
You must understand tool loops, planners, scaffolding, context management, and the practical constraints of agentic systems in real deployments.
You must possess strong product instincts, with the ability to make clear trade-offs around user value, product quality, complexity, and timelines.
You must have refined UX taste, knowing what feels great and what feels off, and be able to communicate why one experience resonates and another does not.
You must be comfortable navigating high ambiguity, bringing structure and clarity to undefined problems while maintaining momentum.
You must be a builder at heart, with the energy and humility to experiment, learn, and iterate quickly alongside engineers and designers.
Nice to have
Experience contributing to or deeply understanding the n8n ecosystem, its integrations, and the specific needs of its global community of builders.
Practical notes
This role is based in our Berlin office and is a full-time engagement. We are still early in our journey, and strong product judgment can meaningfully shape the direction of the platform for a long time to come.
