Mosaicbc is seeking a dedicated Spanish Speaking Settlement Worker to join our team in Burnaby, British Columbia. This position is a fixed-term role that will last until March 31, 2027, where you will play a crucial part in supporting newcomers to Canada. What you'll do

• Provide one-on-one support to Spanish-speaking newcomers, helping them understand and access community resources, services, and programs.
• Conduct needs assessments to identify the unique challenges and barriers faced by clients and develop tailored action plans to address these issues.
• Facilitate workshops and information sessions on various topics such as housing, employment, education, health care, and legal rights.
• Assist clients with the completion of necessary forms and applications related to immigration, housing, and social services.
• Collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance service delivery and ensure comprehensive support for clients.
• Advocate for the needs and rights of Spanish-speaking newcomers within the community and promote awareness of cultural diversity.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in settlement services and community support.
• Engage in outreach activities to connect with potential clients and raise awareness about available services.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to client support and service delivery.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
• Assist in the development of informational materials and resources in Spanish to better serve the community.

Requirements

• Fluency in both Spanish and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
• A minimum of two years of experience working in a settlement or community service role, preferably with immigrant and refugee populations.
• Strong understanding of the settlement process and the challenges faced by newcomers in Canada.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to client interactions.
• Familiarity with local community resources and services available to newcomers.
• Proficiency in using computer applications and software for documentation and communication purposes.
• A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle may be required for outreach activities.

Nice to have

• Experience in facilitating workshops or training sessions, particularly in a multicultural context.
• Knowledge of additional languages beyond Spanish and English is an asset.
• Previous experience in advocacy or policy work related to immigrant and refugee issues.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and approaches in service delivery.
• A degree or diploma in social work, community development, or a related field.
• Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural sensitivities.
