Job description
About the role
This position owns the technical validation and execution of enterprise networking deals within the New England region, serving as the critical bridge between customer requirements and Meter's product capabilities. You will partner directly with Enterprise Sales Executives to design and deliver compelling technical narratives that dismantle objections from IT and network engineering teams. This role requires you to architect reference designs and run detailed technical discovery sessions that uncover unarticulated customer pain points. You will be responsible for translating complex customer environments into clear, implementable solutions that accelerate the sales cycle and expand deal scope. Success in this position means becoming the primary technical authority for key strategic accounts and their interconnected ecosystems. You will leverage your deep expertise in modern routing, switching, and security to position Meter as the singular solution for effortless and resilient enterprise connectivity. This position is foundational to building the go-to-market engine that will disrupt a decades-old industry dominated by legacy vendors.
Location: USA
Engagement: Full-time
What you'll do
Your day will be divided across deal execution, asset and standards creation, and product translation. Approximately 60% of your time will be spent on deal execution. In this capacity, you will lead technical discovery calls with C-suite and engineering stakeholders to map business requirements to Meter networking primitives. You will design and deliver enterprise-grade technical demonstrations that showcase Meter's performance, resilience, and manageability under realistic conditions. You will architect reference designs such as EVPN-VXLAN and 802.1X integration guides tailored for specific verticals like healthcare or finance. Additionally, you will partner directly with Account Executives to create urgency and drive deals forward, removing obstacles to close million-dollar agreements.
25% of your day will be dedicated to building assets and standards. You will build and maintain a library of Sales Engineering assets that standardize best practices and reduce average deal cycle times. This includes designing new internal training, creating sales assets, and standardizing our approach to complex technical use cases. You will also conduct in-depth protocol analysis for routing, switching, wireless, and security to validate that Meter solutions meet or exceed legacy baselines.
The remaining 15% of your day will involve product translation. You will collect customer feedback from complex deployments and translate their requirements directly to the Product team, which will influence the hardware and software product roadmap. You will collaborate with manufacturing and operations to ensure pilot deployments validate design assumptions and quality metrics. You will mentor junior Sales Engineers by creating training modules covering TCP/IP deep dives, SD-WAN overlays, and IDS/IPS tuning. Finally, you will drive the creation of pre-sales content that articulates the business value of effortless connectivity, directly supporting marketing initiatives.
Requirements
You must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. You have a minimum of five years of enterprise networking experience, with a proven track record in selling complex infrastructure solutions. You hold expert-level knowledge of TCP/IP, including deep packet inspection, encryption protocols like TLS, and transport layer mechanics. You are fluent in the fundamentals and advanced features of routing, switching, wireless standards such as 802.11ax/be, and security protocols including IDS/IPS and VPNs. You have hands-on experience with 802.1X, DHCP, DNS, NAT, Multicast, and SD-WAN technologies in production environments. You understand the architectural patterns behind campus networks, data center interconnects, and wide-area branch connectivity. You have a history of working with high-growth technology companies where you operated in fast-paced, ambiguous roles with significant ownership.
Experience selling into enterprise IT organizations with complex procurement and compliance requirements.
