Data Analyst
Job description
About the role
You will own the data layer that unifies signals from sales, marketing, billing, and product across the entire Meter business. This role is responsible for turning fragmented inputs into a single, trusted version of the truth that every team can rely on. You will define and enforce the canonical definitions of accounts, opportunities, revenue, and customer status so the organization stops rebuilding reports. You will act as the analytical partner embedded inside GTM and Finance, translating business questions into structured analyses and clear recommendations. You will build the foundational models and dashboards that allow leadership to understand channel performance, forecast accuracy, and customer behavior. Over time, you will set the standard for analytical rigor, documentation, and data quality that the rest of the organization follows. Your work will directly influence how marketing dollars are spent, how sales capacity is allocated, and how product and partner strategies are shaped. By owning the data backbone, you enable every other team to move faster with confidence in their decisions.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Ship canonical dbt models for accounts, opportunities, marketing touches, and revenue that consolidate multiple conflicting definitions currently used by finance, sales, and marketing.
- Build and maintain the data structures that turn raw events from Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, ad platforms, partner systems, and product telemetry into a coherent, queryable schema.
- Create the attribution and funnel layer that enables a direct comparison of partner-sourced, paid media, and outbound generated customers within a single framework.
- Replace the manual, error-prone processes that cause the marketing team to wait a week for channel performance answers with a reliable query-based workflow.
- Become the primary point of contact for GTM leadership when questions arise about a number, actively reducing ambiguity and mistrust over time.
- Design schemas and transformation logic that can absorb new data sources, such as a partner data feed, without requiring a full rebuild.
- Implement data tests and monitoring that catch regressions early, ensuring that changes to metrics do not silently break downstream reports.
- Collaborate closely with finance during forecasting cycles and with marketing during budget planning to align models with business reality.
- Work alongside sales operations during territory and coverage debates to surface data-driven insights that shift the conversation from opinion to evidence.
- Document analytical products and decision logic so that the models you built in month four remain useful and understandable in month twelve.
Requirements
- You have been the analytical partner embedded inside a GTM organization, owning pipeline, attribution, and forecasting analyses rather than only delivering static reports.
- You write SQL that is clear, efficient, and maintainable, using window functions, CTEs, and set operations as standard tools in your daily work.
- You are fluent in dbt and have strong opinions about modeling practices, including when to use incremental models, snapshots, and conformed dimensions.
- You have hands-on experience across Salesforce, billing systems, marketing platforms, and product analytics, understanding the strengths and blind spots of each.
- You can take a vague business question like "is our marketing spend working?" and turn it into a structured analysis with clear assumptions, limitations, and conclusions.
- You build trust through data products by prioritizing usability and reliability, recognizing that a dashboard nobody used is worse than no dashboard at all.
- You have deep, hands-on experience with one or more modern data stack components such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Tableau, or similar enterprise tools.
- You are comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and problems are solved with a combination of judgment, SQL, and experimentation.
Nice to have
- Experience working with partner ecosystems and data-sharing arrangements that introduce complexity and ambiguity.
- A track record of influencing business decisions through data, including situations where you had to change minds without authority.
- Familiarity with hardware and network telemetry data, and an interest in how physical infrastructure feeds into business metrics.
