About the role
You will lead the design and execution of community-driven campaigns that elevate parent voice and expand school choice across Mastery Schools' footprint. You will partner with school leaders, families, and external stakeholders to build a powerful, organized base capable of advocating for high-quality public education. This role requires a strategic organizer who can translate data and lived experience into targeted actions that deliver measurable results. You will own the development of Parent Action Teams, guiding members through training, outreach, and structured engagement to ensure sustainable leadership. You will coordinate local actions, manage multi-site projects, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to amplify advocacy efforts citywide. Success in this role will be defined by your ability to meet or exceed established metrics for parent participation, external meetings, and community-led initiatives. You will serve as a bridge between schools and communities, ensuring that family perspectives shape local and regional conversations. Ultimately, you will advance Mastery's mission by strengthening trust, expanding access to quality schools, and building lasting power for families.

What you'll do
Coordinate the launch, growth, and evaluation of Parent Action Teams across multiple Mastery schools, ensuring diverse family representation and active participation.
Design and implement community outreach strategies that engage historically underserved families, using data to prioritize schools and neighborhoods with the greatest opportunity.
Plan and execute local actions such as town halls, school board presentations, and parent-led forums to elevate education policy and school quality.
Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, faith leaders, and neighborhood stakeholders to expand collective influence and shared goals.
Develop communication tools, training materials, and event agendas that equip parents with the skills and language needed to advocate effectively for their children.
Manage project timelines and campaign milestones for community initiatives, tracking progress, identifying risks, and adjusting tactics to meet targets.
Collaborate with school and network leaders to align organizing efforts with school goals, ensuring that community input informs decision-making processes.
Analyze engagement metrics, meeting outcomes, and action results to report impact, refine strategies, and demonstrate return on investment for organizing activities.
Represent Mastery at external meetings, coalitions, and public events to strengthen partnerships and advance policies that support school choice and equity.
Create systems for documenting best practices, lessons learned, and stories from the field to inform future organizing campaigns and improve program design.
Support the evaluation of organizing initiatives by collecting feedback, measuring participation, and identifying opportunities to scale successful models.
Facilitate parent leadership development workshops that build confidence, skills, and a shared vision for education advocacy across communities.
Maintain up-to-date records of community stakeholders, meeting notes, and action outcomes to ensure continuity and transparency across organizing efforts.
Serve as a point of contact for families and partners, responding to inquiries, coordinating logistics, and ensuring a positive experience with Mastery engagement opportunities.
Requirements
You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application and hiring.
You must have the legal right to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
You must reside in or be willing to relocate to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and commute reliably to the position location or agreed-upon work sites.
You must possess a high school diploma or equivalent credential at the time of application and hiring.
You must have at least one year of experience in community organizing, parent engagement, outreach, or a related field.
You must demonstrate a track record of success working with diverse stakeholders, including parents, educators, and community partners.
You must be able to show evidence of managing projects or campaigns with measurable outcomes and deadlines.
You must be comfortable using data, surveys, and feedback tools to inform decisions and track progress over time.
You must pass a background check and reference verification as part of the hiring process for this role.
Nice to have
Experience working within the education sector, including schools, districts, charter networks, or community organizations focused on student outcomes.
Familiarity with Philadelphia's education landscape, including district policies, charter schools, and community dynamics.
Skills in public speaking, event facilitation, and leading workshops for groups of varying sizes and compositions.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
Experience with relational organizing methods, one-on-one meetings, and consensus-building across diverse stakeholders.
Comfort using common software tools for data entry, calendar management, and virtual meetings to support coordination and reporting.
Practical notes
This is a full-time position for the 2026-27 school year, with hours expected to align with standard full-time schedules.
Work location is primarily Philadelphia, PA, with potential for travel between schools and community sites as needed for meetings and events.
