Position Overview
The Surveillance Support Specialist operates as a critical operational role within investigative workflows. The primary function is to coordinate case intake procedures and field execution, translating instructions into actionable steps. This position is responsible for documenting every phase of the process, creating a clear audit trail for investigators. The role manages build preparation and review checkpoints to ensure partners receive clean, accurate materials on schedule. Ownership of the ship phase is maintained through careful logs and diligent follow-ups that keep surveillance workflows moving efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct preliminary desktop investigations and case research to prepare files for field surveillance investigators. Review surveillance video and case materials for quality, accuracy, and consistency. Prepare clear, concise, and professional investigative reports based on surveillance activity and findings. Support the timely progression of surveillance assignments by maintaining accurate case information and identifying issues requiring follow-up. Collaborate with investigators and internal team members to ensure high-quality case execution and deliverables.
Compensation and Location
This position is based in Riverside, California. The engagement is full-time, with a compensation rate of $24.62 hourly.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must hold a minimum of two years of directly relevant investigative or surveillance support experience. An alternative qualification is a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related field combined with relevant professional experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to communicate professionally with attorneys, legal professionals, investigators, and internal teams. Experience with investigative case management platforms is required, with TrackOps experience strongly preferred. Applicants must be tech-savvy, highly organized, and detail-oriented, with the capacity to work independently and manage competing priorities. Availability during Pacific Time (PST) business hours is mandatory to align with office needs.
Desired Skills and Tools
Proficiency with TrackOps is a primary technical requirement. Additional investigative or surveillance experience that demonstrates attention to detail and reliability is valued. Skills include the ability to design intake workflows that verify case details and confirm evidence requirements before field teams mobilize. The specialist will build organized case folders by gathering documents, mapping timelines, and preparing materials for surveillance specialists. Reviewing footage and field notes to confirm accuracy and spotting gaps that require rework or extra observation is a standard duty. The role involves shipping polished investigative reports that follow strict formats, utilizing clear language for attorney review. Partnership with investigators to align on priorities and adjust schedules and resources for demanding assignments is frequent. Guarding sensitive case data by controlling file access and maintaining strict record handling standards is imperative. Updating tracking systems ensures supervisors see current status, allowing them to manage overlapping investigations easily. Supporting compliance by following legal rules, court standards, and internal procedures for every assignment is a fundamental duty.
