This position requires you to own the full lifecycle of critical applications, from initial discovery and requirements refinement through robust design and meticulous implementation. You will be responsible for translating ambiguous business needs into elegant, scalable technical specifications that drive measurable value. The role involves deep collaboration with consultants and analysts to ensure the technology empowers their work and improves client outcomes. You will evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, with a particular focus on how artificial intelligence can augment our service offerings. What you'll do
Investigate and analyze complex business requirements from Jury Consulting stakeholders to define viable technical approaches.
Evaluate a spectrum of technologies and frameworks, conducting proof-of-concept exercises to determine the optimal solution for each unique challenge.
Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs that integrate seamlessly with our existing ecosystem.
Construct intuitive and responsive user interfaces that enable consultants to interact with data and tools efficiently, enhancing their decision-making.
Implement robust data models and storage strategies to manage the intricate datasets common in legal and jury analysis contexts.
Collaborate closely with data specialists to ensure analytical features are performant, accurate, and provide actionable insights.
Utilize artificial intelligence tools to accelerate development cycles, automate repetitive tasks, and explore innovative problem-solving methods.
Partner with product owners and business analysts to prioritize workstreams and ensure the engineering roadmap aligns with evolving business needs.
Champion software best practices, including code reviews, testing, and documentation, to maintain a high standard of quality across all projects.
Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance, code reviews, and technical leadership to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Monitor application performance in production, diagnosing and resolving issues to maximize uptime and a positive user experience.
Contribute to the broader technical strategy by participating in architecture discussions and sharing knowledge across the engineering organization.
Explore and integrate new tools and workflows that improve our development velocity and the maintainability of our codebase.
Act as a primary technical point of contact for cross-functional initiatives that impact the Jury Consulting business and other lines of service.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field.
You must have a minimum of eight years of professional software development experience in a variety of roles and responsibilities.
Demonstrated expertise in at least one modern programming language such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C Sharp is mandatory.
A strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design principles, is required.
You should have a proven track record of developing and deploying applications that are scalable, secure, and highly available.
Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure as code practices is essential for success in this environment.
Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git, is necessary for effective collaboration within our engineering workflow.
The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders is a hard requirement for this position.
Nice to have
Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Vue is preferred.
Familiarity with data visualization libraries and techniques is a significant advantage for this role.
Background in the legal, consulting, or finance industries is considered a plus.
Experience with database technologies, both relational and NoSQL, is highly desirable.
Knowledge of AI and machine learning frameworks and their practical applications is encouraged.
