About the role
Lyft is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal II to join our Litigation & Employment team in New York, NY. This role is essential for supporting our legal department in handling a variety of litigation matters and employment-related issues. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legal procedures and will be adept at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with attorneys and other legal professionals to ensure that all documentation is accurate and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

What you'll do
- Assist attorneys in the preparation and organization of legal documents for litigation cases, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
- Conduct thorough legal research to support ongoing litigation and employment matters, ensuring that all information is current and relevant.
- Manage and maintain case files, including tracking deadlines and ensuring that all documents are filed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with external counsel and other stakeholders to facilitate communication and information sharing related to litigation and employment issues.
- Draft and review various legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and internal policies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Prepare summaries of depositions, interrogatories, and other legal documents to assist attorneys in case preparation.
- Assist in the management of employment-related claims, including investigations and responses to administrative agencies.
- Support the litigation team in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legal trends and developments in employment law and litigation practices to provide informed support to the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR and compliance, to address legal issues and ensure alignment with corporate policies.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance legal knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
- Contribute to special projects and initiatives as needed to support the overall objectives of the legal department.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on litigation and employment law preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field; paralegal certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation related to litigation and employment matters.
- Proficient in legal research tools and databases, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Familiarity with e-discovery tools and case management software is advantageous.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations is highly desirable.

- Experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm, particularly in the technology or transportation sectors.
- Understanding of compliance issues related to employment practices and workplace regulations.
- Familiarity with litigation support software and tools.
