Lyft is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal II to join our Litigation & Employment team in New York, NY. This role is essential for supporting our legal department in handling a variety of litigation matters and employment-related issues. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legal procedures and will be adept at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with attorneys and other legal professionals to ensure that all documentation is accurate and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

What you'll do

• Assist attorneys in the preparation and organization of legal documents for litigation cases, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Conduct thorough legal research to support ongoing litigation and employment matters, ensuring that all information is current and relevant.
• Manage and maintain case files, including tracking deadlines and ensuring that all documents are filed in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with external counsel and other stakeholders to facilitate communication and information sharing related to litigation and employment issues.
• Draft and review various legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and internal policies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Prepare summaries of depositions, interrogatories, and other legal documents to assist attorneys in case preparation.
• Assist in the management of employment-related claims, including investigations and responses to administrative agencies.
• Support the litigation team in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legal trends and developments in employment law and litigation practices to provide informed support to the team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR and compliance, to address legal issues and ensure alignment with corporate policies.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance legal knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
• Contribute to special projects and initiatives as needed to support the overall objectives of the legal department.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on litigation and employment law preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field; paralegal certification is a plus.
• Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation related to litigation and employment matters.
• Proficient in legal research tools and databases, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with e-discovery tools and case management software is advantageous.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations is highly desirable.
