About the role

You will own and evolve the operational playbooks that govern our autonomous vehicle fleet operations from the ground up in our inaugural Nashville depot. You will act as the primary operational leader responsible for creating the strategic framework that translates high-level goals into executable actions on the depot floor. In this role, you will execute complex projects end-to-end, ensuring seamless functionality of our AV support infrastructure in close partnership with our AV technology partners. You will lead the day-to-day execution of critical operational systems and processes for our 24/7 AV fleet management operations, including vehicle flow, charging, cleaning, maintenance, staging, and diagnostics. You will manage operational resources such as equipment, technology, consumables, and staffing efficiently on a daily basis to ensure maximum uptime and operational readiness. What you'll do

• Execute daily operational execution for our 24/7 AV fleet management operations, ensuring depot layout adherence and optimizing vehicle flow for charging, cleaning, maintenance, staging, and diagnostics.
• Manage operational resources including equipment, technology, consumables, and staffing efficiently on a daily basis to ensure maximum uptime and operational readiness.
• Utilize technology systems and tools to execute operational procedures and enable efficient AV operations within the depot environment.
• Serve as the primary operational head for the AV depot, driving daily performance, hands-on problem-solving, and strict adherence to all operational and safety protocols.
• Monitor key performance indicators for depot operations such as vehicle uptime, turnaround time, maintenance efficiency, and cost per vehicle, then swiftly address operational bottlenecks.
• Execute Standard Operating Procedures, Service Level Agreements, and safety protocols for all aspects of AV fleet management within the depot environment and identify practical improvements.
• Maintain a strong floor presence, leading by example and directly supporting the team during peak operational periods or complex troubleshooting events.
• Manage the AV operators and technicians, handling scheduling, performance management, training, and fostering a positive, safety-first culture on the shop floor.
• Work closely with AV technology partners on the ground, ensuring their operational needs are met and collaborating on joint initiatives for fleet health and performance.
• Oversee daily interactions with external vendors and partners for equipment, services, and facility needs.
• Enforce all operations guidelines to adhere to local, state, and federal regulations for autonomous vehicles, commercial fleet management, and workplace safety.
• Lead the development and refinement of operational playbooks, translating strategic objectives into actionable workflows for the AV depot.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing operational data, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing scalable solutions.
• Act as the key liaison between technology, operations, and partner teams to ensure alignment and seamless execution across all depot activities.

Requirements

You must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. You must have a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in operations, logistics, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. You must have demonstrated experience managing complex fleet operations or environments involving autonomous vehicles, robotics, or advanced mobility systems. You must have a proven track record of managing operational budgets and controlling costs while maintaining high service levels. You must be highly proficient in interpreting and executing Standard Operating Procedures and Service Level Agreements within a regulated environment. You must have strong experience in risk management, safety compliance, and problem-solving within dynamic and high-stakes operational settings. You must be able to lead and manage teams directly, with hands-on involvement in scheduling, training, and performance management. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate effectively with cross-functional partners and vendors. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where priorities evolve rapidly.
