What you'll do
- Lead and manage the accounts payable team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Oversee the entire accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and vendor management, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Implement and enhance accounts payable policies and procedures to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment and effective communication regarding payment processes and vendor relationships.
- Monitor accounts payable metrics and KPIs, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and report findings to senior management.
- Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues to maintain positive partnerships.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments, including weekly and monthly payment runs, while managing cash flow effectively.
- Conduct regular audits of accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to accounts payable and financial operations, implementing necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, providing insights related to accounts payable activities and their impact on overall financial performance.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as required, contributing to the continuous improvement of the finance function.
- Train and develop team members on accounts payable processes and systems, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in accounts payable or a related financial role, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with experience in tools such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
