What you'll do

• Oversee the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts, providing financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
• Conduct regular audits of financial processes and controls, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare and file various tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings, presenting findings to senior management.
• Liaise with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing any inquiries.
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure proper documentation for all accounting activities.
• Support the implementation of new accounting software or systems, ensuring a smooth transition and training for staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate setting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar platforms) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience with tax compliance and preparation is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
