About the role
The User Acquisition Manager
Media Planning and Buying owns the strategic and operational execution of all paid media initiatives that drive new user acquisition for the Limitbreak platform. You will architect and manage the media plan end-to-end, ensuring that budget allocation directly supports the company's ambitious growth targets and long-term vision. This role requires a blend of analytical rigor and creative insight, as you will partner closely with data science, product, and design teams to refine audience targeting and creative messaging. You will be the primary owner of performance across Meta, Google, TikTok, Apple Search Ads, and programmatic ecosystems, responsible for translating business objectives into scalable acquisition funnels. The ideal candidate thrives on turning raw data into actionable optimizations that compound over time. You will be accountable for documenting and iterating on playbooks that ensure consistent, measurable success regardless of market volatility. Ultimately, this position is about building a sustainable and predictable growth engine that can be scaled efficiently across global markets.

What you'll do
Develop and execute a comprehensive media plan that aligns with company-wide growth objectives and market-specific opportunities.
Allocate budgets dynamically across Meta, Google, TikTok, Apple Search Ads, and programmatic networks to maximize user acquisition and ROAS.
Analyze performance data on a daily basis and implement rapid optimizations to improve campaign efficiency and profitability.
Create detailed audience segments and define testing roadmaps to uncover high-performing acquisition strategies.
Collaborate with creative and content teams to develop compelling ad narratives, formats, and landing page experiences.
Establish clear reporting frameworks that visualize funnel performance, channel health, and cohort behavior for stakeholder review.
Monitor competitive activity and platform updates to ensure media strategies remain relevant and effective.
Partner with product and analytics teams to set up robust tracking, ensuring accurate attribution across devices and channels.
Design and manage experiments for creative variations, audience targeting, and bidding strategies to drive continuous improvement.
Identify high-potential organic channels and coordinate with cross-functional teams to amplify their impact through paid amplification.
Maintain strict governance over campaign quality, brand safety, and fraud prevention across all media vendors and placements.
Translate complex data insights into clear recommendations for leadership and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Own the end-to-end media workflow from brief to launch, ensuring timelines are met and results are documented for future scaling.
Champion a culture of experimentation, documenting learnings and scaling what works across channels and markets.
Act as the primary point of contact for external partners and internal stakeholders regarding media performance and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, or a related field from a competitive program.
Bring a minimum of 10 years of experience in performance marketing, user acquisition, or growth marketing roles.
Demonstrate a proven track record of scaling paid acquisition campaigns with measurable ROI and clear attribution.
Show deep familiarity with major ad platforms including Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, and Apple Search Ads.
Exhibit strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, and have hands-on experience with SQL or Python.
Have direct experience working with mobile measurement partners such as Adjust, AppsFlyer, or Branch for attribution and analytics.
Display a strong understanding of mobile advertising ecosystems, including bidding strategies, audience targeting, and creative best practices.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently and own complex functions with limited direct oversight in a fast-paced environment.
Communicate effectively, with the ability to distill complex performance data into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Comfortable navigating high ambiguity and prioritizing multiple initiatives in a startup environment characterized by rapid change.
Commitment to data-driven decision making, ensuring that every media decision is backed by quantitative insights and experimentation.
Willingness to travel internationally as required to support key markets and build relationships with partners on the ground.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting strict deadlines.
Nice to have
Previous experience in gaming, entertainment, or consumer apps within a user acquisition or media planning role.
Hands-on familiarity with App Store Optimization (ASO) and its integration with paid media strategies.
Background managing agency relationships or leading in-house creative and media teams.
Prior experience in lifecycle marketing, CRM tools, and retention-focused acquisition strategies.
Understanding of community-driven growth mechanisms and how they intersect with paid acquisition.
Practical notes
This role is full-time and based in Tokyo. The position may require international travel to support key partnerships and market-specific initiatives. Candidates must be eligible to work in Japan under the applicable visa regulations. The work environment is fast-paced and entrepreneurial, requiring adaptability and a high degree of ownership.
