Tax Accountant
Job description
About the role
You will own the full cycle preparation and filing of U.S. federal and state tax returns for real estate holding companies and related entities, ensuring strict adherence to real estate-specific tax rules. Success in this role is defined by accurate, on-time filings across assigned portfolios with minimal rework during internal review. You will act as an independent owner of a recurring book of tax preparation work, applying deep knowledge of depreciation, accelerated depreciation, and cost segregation studies to rental properties and investment assets. The position requires proactive coordination with internal teams to close gaps in financial and property level information before filing. You will maintain organized tax workpapers and documentation to support every return and facilitate smooth audits or reviews. This role involves identifying and flagging discrepancies or potential tax risks prior to submission to leadership. You will stay current on regulatory changes impacting real estate investors and evaluate legitimate tax planning opportunities within compliance boundaries. The work demands strong analytical rigor and meticulous attention to detail given the complexity of real estate tax regulations.
