What you'll do
- Oversee and manage fencing projects within the TfL network, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Lead a team of skilled fencers, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop project plans and timelines.
- Conduct site assessments to determine fencing requirements and identify potential challenges before work begins.
- Ensure that all materials and equipment are available and in good condition before commencing work on-site.
- Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Implement safety protocols and ensure that all team members adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior fencers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including materials used, labor hours, and any incidents or issues that arise.
- Liaise with local authorities and TfL representatives to ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with their requirements.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss project updates, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and standard operating procedures for fencing work within the TfL network.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fencing, construction, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of fencing materials, techniques, and safety regulations specific to the construction industry.
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges on-site.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications related to fencing projects.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites across the TfL network.
- Familiarity with health and safety legislation and best practices in construction and fencing.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Nice to have
- Experience working specifically within the TfL network or similar public infrastructure projects.
- Relevant certifications in fencing or construction management.
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in construction.
- Previous experience in a role that required close collaboration with local authorities or governmental bodies.

- Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in fencing installation.
