What you'll do

• Perform regular maintenance of grounds, including mowing, trimming, and landscaping to ensure a tidy and professional appearance.
• Operate and maintain various groundskeeping equipment, such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and blowers, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Assist in the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems to promote healthy plant growth and conserve water.
• Conduct routine inspections of the grounds to identify any issues or areas needing attention, reporting findings to the supervisor.
• Collaborate with other team members to execute landscaping projects, including planting trees, shrubs, and flowers, in accordance with design plans.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while performing all tasks, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
• Support the removal of debris, litter, and waste from the grounds to maintain cleanliness and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area.
• Participate in seasonal tasks such as snow removal, leaf collection, and other activities as required to keep the grounds accessible and safe.
• Assist in the preparation of grounds for events, ensuring that all areas are clean, well-maintained, and ready for use.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used, contributing to the overall efficiency of the grounds maintenance program.

Requirements

• Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with operating and maintaining groundskeeping machinery and tools.
• Strong understanding of horticulture and plant care practices.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating good communication skills.
• Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
• A valid driver's license is essential, with the ability to operate company vehicles safely.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations related to grounds maintenance.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

Nice to have

• Certification in horticulture or landscape management would be advantageous.
• Experience with irrigation systems and landscaping design.
• First aid certification is a plus.
• Knowledge of local flora and fauna, particularly in the Essex area.
