What you'll do

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs tailored to the specific needs of each construction site.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to create and enforce safety plans that mitigate risks associated with construction activities.
• Provide training and guidance to employees and subcontractors on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Investigate accidents and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns from employees, management, and regulatory agencies.
• Stay updated on industry trends, safety regulations, and best practices to continuously improve the safety culture within the organization.
• Facilitate safety meetings and workshops to promote awareness and encourage open communication regarding safety issues among all team members.
• Assist in the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure readiness in the event of an incident.
• Collaborate with health and safety committees to promote a proactive approach to workplace safety and health.
• Support the onboarding process for new employees by providing safety orientations and ensuring they understand their responsibilities regarding site safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety role within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to construction sites.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing effective safety programs and training initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse teams.
• Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in using safety management software and tools for reporting and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance in addition to construction safety.
• Familiarity with incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of first aid and CPR, with certification preferred.
• Experience in conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
• Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a safety context.

• Strong understanding of safety management systems and practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to create clear and concise reports and presentations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
