What you'll do

• Conduct thorough analysis of project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for various construction projects.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and scope, ensuring all aspects are covered in the estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating terms and pricing to secure the best value for the company.
• Maintain a comprehensive database of historical costs and pricing to inform future estimates and enhance accuracy.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management and clients, clearly articulating the rationale behind cost estimates.
• Monitor project budgets and expenditures throughout the construction process, providing updates and adjustments as necessary.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss estimates, timelines, and any potential cost-saving measures.
• Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions and best practices.
• Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines, ensuring that estimates align with overall project goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating, with a proven track record in commercial or residential projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost factors.
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, or similar programs.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all estimates.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and present findings to stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to adapt to changing project requirements.

Nice to have

• Certification from a recognized estimating organization, such as the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE).
• Experience with project management software, such as Procore or Microsoft Project.
• Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green construction methods.
• Previous experience working in a design-build environment.
• Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
