You will be responsible for expanding the company's insurance offerings across multiple states, ensuring that new products are competitive, compliant, and aligned with business goals. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including actuarial, product, compliance, and engineering, to support state expansion efforts and implement advanced pricing strategies. You will leverage emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning to enhance pricing accuracy, risk assessment, and operational efficiency. This is an on-site role based in a remote-friendly environment, with a focus on supporting the company's growth in various jurisdictions.

What you'll do
- Develop, refine, and optimize insurance products, rules, and coverage options to ensure they are competitive and deliver value to customers.
- Lead initiatives for expanding into new states by creating tailored pricing models that account for regional regulations, risk factors, and market conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive research to identify opportunities for new insurance products, rules, and coverage options that meet emerging customer needs and market trends.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of product launches, including initial pricing analysis, regulatory compliance checks, go-to-market strategies, and post-launch performance monitoring.
- Utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to improve pricing models, identify risk trends, automate analytical processes, and enhance underwriting accuracy.
- Collaborate with actuarial, product, and compliance teams to ensure that new products and features adhere to regulatory standards and are technically sound.
- Create and maintain key performance metrics to evaluate the success of new products and pricing features, adjusting strategies based on data insights.
- Translate market research, customer feedback, and competitor analysis into actionable recommendations for product development and pricing strategies.
- Identify and implement pricing innovations ahead of state expansion to ensure readiness for regulatory review and successful market entry.
- Support the regulatory approval process by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring all products meet state-specific requirements.
- Work with internal teams to develop scalable processes for ongoing product improvement and market adaptation.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies that could impact product development and pricing strategies.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across departments to align product development initiatives with overall business objectives.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior team members involved in product development and pricing activities.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance product development, with a proven track record of creating or launching new insurance products, features, or rating enhancements.
- Demonstrated experience supporting state expansion efforts, including developing pricing models tailored to new jurisdictions and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Practical experience applying AI and machine learning techniques to pricing, underwriting, or risk management workflows, with measurable results.
- Strong understanding of regulatory modeling and compliance requirements across multiple states, including familiarity with state-specific rules and standards.
- Ability to analyze market research, customer data, and competitive landscapes to develop effective product and pricing strategies.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with actuarial, product, and compliance teams without direct authority.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in interpreting complex data to inform decision-making.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of insurance industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends related to product development and pricing.
- Ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments and incorporate new technological solutions into existing workflows.

- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in various states, especially those with complex or evolving requirements.

Skills & tools
- Proficiency with AI and machine learning tools relevant to insurance pricing and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical and data visualization skills.
- Familiarity with statistical modeling and programming languages such as Python or R is advantageous.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance tools and platforms used in insurance product development.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate complex concepts clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple stakeholders.

- For remote technical roles in Canada, individuals residing in Ontario are eligible.
